I have been setting unrealistic goals every year with a view to pushing myself more! I end up not achieving them and making wrong investments at times.

So this year, for the first half, my target is $20,000. When/If I hit this by the end of June, I'd make an aggressive investment for quick flips for July to December(target for which will be $25k - $30k). This I think is doable considering my understanding of domain name investment.

What is your goal?

My goal every year is to sell more than the year before. My strategy this year will be a new sales website, and a deeper use of Afternic (which is currently limited usage).

Realistic goal for me is to smile lots, laugh more and to continue appreciating the small things. While doing so, I hope to hit a six figure in the meantime.

One of my top priorities this year is to reduce inventory (annual renewal fees add up). I keep renewing some names that might never get an inquiry. I have to learn to "let go" and just let them expire...

My goals this year:

i). To avoid hand registering .com
ii). To buy only .com or liquid .net/.org
iii). To learn efficiently the art of dropping poor domains every now and then.
iv). Most importantly, to break-even.

To learn more about development

To learn more about development

Development is not all that hard (with some effort) the real challenge includes originality, but.. (!!)
"Too original" might scare people away, and anything else is just a copy :)

Personally speaking, making buck is not a big deal while most of my domains sold out for USD XXX-USD XXXX each by handreg
,you know, hundreds of thousands of possibilities out there always.
on the other hand,I dont put my money on these extensions like ,COMs,NETs because i know chances are slightest if i taken them by handreg, instead,
i was specializing in ccTLDs in the past years and now !

in a word,my investments in domains are yeilding a good results over the years ,

andl My goal for this fresh new start is that remain keeping grasp various ccTLDs that could fetch me something, most importantly ,i love what i do!

last but not least , I wanna share with you guys my motto:Doing what you love and know much more about as possibile as you can!:xf.smile:

Lets join hands to achieve our goals whatever is big or small in the days ahead!

@VaneZhao - Best wishes to you too. Would you care to share the domain extensions you deal in?

My goal is to top the 2018 result. And I will work hard to do so.

But, to be honest, if I would only reach 80% I wouldn’t cry. 2018 was a good year!

Concentrate on current Job, increase my portfolio size and wait for the domains to sell.

I‘’d like to,Stub,in the first place ,we should put these hot ccTLDs into consideration, like DE,CO.UK,CN,RU,NL,CO because some of them the amonts of registration are quite high which indicates that these ccTLDs are welcomed as well as vaulable over others.

Howere, usually, its extremely difficult to find good domains expired or by handreg among these ccTLDs like CN,DE,NL,so DONT spend your so much time on them, instead,CO.UK ,CO and .RU left some spaces for regging that could fetch you some money even by handreg sometimes if you are lucky enough.

Secondly, eyes on this ccTLDs as well, like .LY, GR,RO, even though some of them reg fees cost high, but its worth trying if super names in front of you ,take me for example ,i used to reg Love.ly, Real.ly ,Online.tv,Yes.im,Poker.mx,SMS.MS,Chee.se,Credit.ro and so on ,they are featured domains and sell like hot cakes on the domain market .
in a word ,success never comes easily, howere, If you are diligent and lucky enough ,at the same time, you are a hard bargin,(good at marketing your domains and negotiating with the potential buyers)you could earn more than 10000 USD per year at least from this ccTLDs mentioned above,.

i hate to say but too many specific details regarding these different ccTLDs(key points:try to give a try first, then a loss would be made, you start to earn your money next time )

I hope it could work for you!:xf.smile:

  1. Develop at least one of my domains incl. its social media profiles,
  2. Get my first sale,
  3. Drop some bad names,
  4. Learn what it selling and how it is getting sold,
  5. Acquire as many good .COMs from closeouts as I can find.

Better names or better negotiation or both?

Nicely put!

Get help from someone else, I guess. Because we are always biased with our names. At times, this equates to being stubborn.

Better names of course.. It's not easy to sell average names to end users. As for negotiation skills, my English is not good so it's difficult to get improvement :ROFL:

I intend to acquire more quality domain names. That would mean spending significantly more than I did in 2018. A couple of $xxxx sales would be nice too, but I don't have control over that...

Acquire one .com domain that I really like. It has been quite a while since I last saw a domain I really like for a price that I thought was very reasonable.
