discuss What is your favorite Domain Niche and Why?

I prefer lots of niches. Kinda of keep the eggs spread out instead of one basket.....When hand regging I like technology future trends, as you mentioned.

I love high cpc keyword domains. Even really long ones. 3 even 4 word domains totally fine in my book. They're the most underpriced asset in marketing.

Tough to sell but as undeveloped names but all you gotta do is throw up a 500$ worth of content and make some marketing intern build a link every few months. The internet runs on search engines and hashtags.

Probably tourism.

When people are looking for a vacation, they first go online and search for it and perhaps book their tours online.

As @Internet.Domains mentioned, I also do not stick with only one niche with my investments, but probably the tourism sector is my favourite amongst them.

I prefer Investments/Finance/Banking/Loans.

The value of another client in this niche can be quite valuable. Also, potential buyers have deep pockets. The downside is that most market their "brand name."

I'm with you on this one @BostonDomainer, getting into an emerging tech early is the best way to get good names in specific technologies. Hold them a few years and then flip them. Always try and get just a few "premium" names in a variety of technologies so you have numerous technologies covered. Don't make the mistake of getting 500 or 1000 names in one niche and then end up with most of them dropping.

I've focused on the following in the last few years....VR, AR, Cloud, Robotics, Solar, Drones, Holo, etc

I enjoy spending a portion of my time researching future trends. It led me to the IOT and I registered quite a few early. When I find domains regged below the dot com by Cisco, Panasonic, etc, I'm excited to be a player in a unfolding, disruptive technology. As an investor in future tech, I understand the patience part, and the ups and downs.

With this method, be very careful and check for TM's before registering names.

No, generic word ONLY.
Mostly "iotkeyword".
I always check for trademarks before registering.
Similar to the Cloud and VR domains in your signature.

I get most excited when I can find a really good travel, destination or tech name.

But I’m more focused on general quality, than the niche.

I love tech and I'm focusing mainly on future tech.
Reason is basically that technology is and will cover more and more areas of our lives so need will be there . I love buying names and keep them with me till I find a good enough reason to sell them or maybe develop .

4 letters just because I entered the market when that was the hottest thing around

Provides somewhat liquidity too.

You will find out when I take over the world but appreciate the insight.

It is hard just to choose one! I actually like best positive playful domains that make a phrase. An example would be voila.fun which I think would be ideal for the website of someone who made their living doing magic shows.

I also like a lot words that are dictionary words but not overly common. I have subliminal.space and I know I need to find the right end user but I like the feel and impact off the name. I also like a lot words that have meaning in multiple languages (debut is one of my favourites).

I like names that are clean, fresh and minimalistic. I recently sold paradox and liked it from the very start as a fresh, distinctive word. Yes, I have some 2 word .com, .net, .org and .info as well as country codes (and a few longer ngTLDs) but I really prefer single word so much that I would rather have one in a traditionally weak extension than a long multi-word domain name in com. I like elegance and impact of a word that does not waste anything in making an impact. It's just me - I know many would strongly disagree! JMHO

All of that being said, realize the challenges of finding end users and the headwinds against new extensions, so realistically I view my better investments as being in technology (I especially like medical and biotechnology, and nanoscale technology), happy healthy lifestyle, and reputation advice/management.

A lot of profitable niches these days. porn/science & Tech/fashion/politics. I think it would be profitable to tap into all niches

I focus on VR. Less than 1% use virtual reality currently. That will rise every year going forward. Many domainers were five years early registering VR names, but with lower priced stand alone goggles...growth is going to ramp. Hoping VR dot com domain’s value will rise as more users come onboard in multiple fields.

I think you're right. Would be fun to see how right. This whole thread actually got me thinking.

I wonder if I can make some kinda keyword tracker and make a game out of tracking namepros predictions.

Symptoms.

I've been collecting symptoms in dot ca for a while now. In Canada, Pharmaco's aren't allowed to market prescription drugs to consumers - only to doctors/pharmacists etc. Magazines and TV ads usually promote a domain name that is symptom related. In fact I watched the Canucks game tonight and saw a TV ad for "NailFungus.ca".

(As an aside, I love that website. There is a heading in the FAQ section titled"Can I use home remedies for nail fungus?"). Truly brilliant marketing!

In any case I've been collecting names like:
WaterRetention.ca
Sinusitis.ca
AcneRelief.ca
DryHands.ca
etc,etc.
I haven't sold any of these yet, but I think they are worth holding onto.

I too like future technology trends, although it takes a lot of patience when dealing with this niche, because it might take several years for something to go from being just an idea to becoming an actual product that is going to be available on the market. I have noticed that some of the domains that I hand register had originally been registered a long time ago (sometimes up to 10 years ago), but then were dropped by people who didn't have the patience to wait. I also have noticed that some products might originally fail, but then become popular once they evolve over time, like for example Rollable (flexible) Monitors didn't originally catch on, but now the second generation of that technology might become popular in 2019 that's why I registered RollableMonitor.com

A close number 2 is general 2 word business names media niche.
