Has anyone used undeveloped.com to sell domains? They claim to be able to increase a domainers sales by 54%.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. The current flow is the highest yielding flow, designed to get the maximum revenue in for you. I understand fake bidders are annoying but I think it's more important to get in maximum revenue rather than minimum fake offers.

Regardless, if other sellers can get involved and vote on the following we'll make something happen:

1: Would you like to cancel a sale completely? So no payment can be collected anymore as the transaction is entirely canceled.

or 2: Would you like to have the option to relist a domain that's under "agreement reached", while keeping the transaction still active?

Like this post, if you prefer option 1 or submit a thank if you prefer option 2.

PS: I feel I have to repeat this strongly to make sure this piece of information isn't lost. The higher the barrier for buyers to submit an offer, the lower your conversions and the less total revenue you make.

We see fake offers (mostly from unsavvy Internet users that have no idea they're buying a domain) as a given because you can't control what Internet users do.

In the end, ask yourself if you'd rather have 10 fake offers and 2 legit ones or 5 fake offers and 1 legit one? The harder we make it for users to place a bid, the lower your conversions will get. The faster we or you cancel a transaction, the lower the chance of our team still getting the payment in for you.

Kind regards,
Reza
@Undeveloped when you start this 2 nd option. you can see maximum domainer want this 2 nd option. :)

I just joined and I am testing undeveloped.com with just a couple of domains and I do like the look and design of their platform but I am surprised that I was able to join and list domains without any verification of any kind, no email verification, no SMS verification or 2 factor auth.

This seems like a recipe for fraud.

@Undeveloped Any plans to change this?

Thanks

Hi Lenn,

You get in easily but once you have your first lead/transaction we verify you and or your business and address details.

There's zero chance of fraud possible since we have an internal escrow service that's used for all transactions conducted on Undeveloped.

Kind regards,

Reza

Hi Also1,

You can already relist domains. Go to your domain overview page via your portfolio, click edit and unmark a domain as sold to relist it.

Kind regards,

Reza

I vote for whatever extra security features undeveloped or clients decided on.. as long as each of them is fully optional with checkbox in settings :)

and undelveoped keeping possibility to set whatever they see fit as ON.. by default...

We'll make it optional, we believe giving sellers the options to decide how they want to sell is important.

I think undeveloped should develop the mechanism of removing domains after 20-30 days of domain expiration listed by previous owner so that we do not have to ask your support team every time for adding our domains. This will also save valuable time for your team.

Sheraz

Please correct me if I’m wrong but if a name is listed as “Make Offer” and I receive an offer on it do I have to send a counter offer before messaging them?
Seems to be this way.
It would be nice to message the buyer saying something like...”we’re looking for something in the $$$$ range”. Rather than having to send them a firm price and THEN be able to send them a message.
Is there a way to message them without sending a firm counter?

Thanks Reza for the quick reply.

That all sounds good but what about preventing others from listing domains that are not their own?
Sedo and Godaddy require Domain Ownership Verification in order to list.
Do you plan on anything like this in the future?

Bad people may not be able to get away with selling a domain on Undeveloped, but they can still list them just to mess with people and cause some problems.

Once an offer is made on any of your domain names, it creates a new dialog with you and that potential new buyer.
Yes, you can message them and thank them for their offer, but you are looking for and offer in the mid $x,xxx.
Or, you can just counter their offer numerically by using Undeveloped's widget tab.

Once you and the potential buyer have agreed on a price, all dialog with you and that buyer will be cut off.
In that same chat box, any further communication will be with an Undeveloped Team Member.

That Undeveloped Team Members will begin the Escrow process with the buyer to secure the funds.

What I personally like with Undeveloped, is that you are never in the dark and an Undeveloped Team Member will always keep you in the loop through out the process in that same chat box.

If everything goes well, and Buyer pays, Undeveloped will direct you to transfer domain name.

Once the buyer has confirmed that they've received the domain name, Undeveloped will disburse your funds to your financial institution.

Anything under $2,000 they can send PayPal.
Anything over $2,000 has to be a wire transfer.:sneaky::xf.wink:

I was just reading this part of the Sellers Guide and some of it concerns me,

We kindly ask you to provide us with the transfer code or push the domain to our escrow account as soon as we’ve received the funds. The next step is sending the authorization code to the buyer or pushing the domain from our escrow account into the account of the buyer. Finally, IF the domain is successfully transferred we will transfer the payment to the account of the seller.

Does this mean we have to wait until the buyer actually receives the domain in order to receive payment?

I would Only ever want to push the domain directly to Undeveloped's Escrow and Never transfer it directly to the buyer, and I would think once the domain is in Undeveloped's Escrow and they have payment then we should be entitled to receive full payment regardless if or when the buyer receives the domain.

This is how Sedo does it.

I've had to do this AN / GD before and almost didn't get paid because the buyer never changed contacts and I had to ask the buyer to contact them a few times before I finally got paid many many weeks later. If not for that I would have never been paid. I prefer UD to hold the domain or code and not the buyer outside who may not be trustworthy.

i dont like how on undeveloped you can only add a single tracking code for stats for google analytics, so it only tracks all domains not just 1

The issue is that some registrars tack on a grace period when pushing from account to account.
Once Undeveloped has the funds secure, it is only when they instruct you to push the domain name or issue Auth code.

In the Google Analytics panel you should be able to go view by "content".
Meaning that you should be able to research (view) where your traffic is coming from and where (domain) that traffic is going to.

They as in the buyer or Undeveloped?

So you are saying we do in fact have to push/transfer the domain directly to the buyer?

I do need to know this since I never ever under any circumstances transfer a domain directly to the buyer.
I only ever use a Full Escrow service like Sedo or Escrow.com's Concierge Service.

If I do have to transfer one of my domains directly to a buyer then I would need to cancel my account.

u should always push to undeveloped account.
else u can run into delays and issues and be at mercy of buyer confirmation if he got domain etc.

u can easily push to undev accnts. they have them on most registrars. and are negotiable to open an account if your on more exotic registrar.. like dotster or somehting

That is what I want to confirm that I can Always push to Undeveloped's account and never directly to a buyer.
I have well known American registrars, like Godaddy, Namesilo ect.

well... you can't always push with sedo either.. they won't and don't have accnts on AL registrars across world. what I do know for fact though is that if you ask sedo to open an accnt on a rergistrar they're not on yet.. they won't give a dang about yoru request. and undev will give a dang ;)

but you will be fine with popular registrars. undev prefers it too to push to them first.. cause then no one is at mercy of buyers confirmations. and its smooth then

cheers

I don't know about everyone but I have always been able to push to sedo, even when they argued about the buyer not wanting or able to open a GD or Namesilo account.
Sedo doesn't have to open an account with some strange registrar the buyer has, they buyer just has to wait the 60 day lock to end after I push it into one of sedo's accounts.

Believe me, you stand your ground and they will accept your domain.
I would rather lose a sale then lose my domain.

Hi Lenn,

When a domain push is possible, you will get paid once you've pushed the domain to us. So we'll take care of the rest of the transfer with the buyer without bothering you or delaying your payout.

Kind regards,

Reza

Am liking the Undeveloped experience so far, and does seem better than Sedo for generating offers - probably partly due to the low-friction approach of letting people make an offer without creating an account. And possibly also due to pages being share-able on social media. Noticed in the Google Analytics stats I was getting visitors from social media. Why Instagram? Maybe typos? Who knows.

You can isolate which domain they visited and which social media platform they came from in Google Analytics:

>Acquisition >Overview >Social >Secondary dimension >Behaviour >Page Title

The Page Title contains the domain name. As the page titles are language specific (do they respond to browser's primary language, or is it IP address?) when you have views in different languages they are separate entries - but usually if you search for the domain name in the search box, it aggregates them on one line. (When you see your stats in the Undeveloped interface, they have done that for you so all visits to your domain go into one total, not separate language totals.)

Also by changing the time frame you can isolate a particular day - to see if news or outbound created visits, for example.

so I just decided now to switch my dns for most my names to undeveloped.. versus bodis redirect etc..

this will eliminate however many there are failed redirects due to ad blockers etc..

but aside from this obvious advantage.. who here or maybe @Undeveloped
can sum up for me all the differences and or advnatages of goiing to your lander via dns directly... vs doing it as url forward/redirects...

thanks!!!

p.s. I also noticed that cancelling a sale via outlined portofolio/edit method while releasing your name on market again and to the lander, does not at same time cancel completely the sale.. which means the last buyer unlikely as may be to pay, can still pay for it and the sale can still be saved.. if he has change of heart about paying. this is obviously very good as it can still preserve some sales.. while releasing name back to markt for other leads..
