we opened up some traffic to our site(since we moved to this new server) and sucked up over 60% of the servers memory... and this is supposed to be a hosting company recommended by the members of this forum

I am glad I left a door open with my old host so we can go back ! :xf.love:

I really don't understand why these kids try to run a business?

So I sent the host an email regarding the slow server and his reply was "your sites are too load intensive (flash)" .... what would you do? call his parents and tell him his company can't deliver

That is really wierd though. The server load is .01 which is very low yet the sites are extremely slow and the flash doesn't even load. Also, I thought you were on free hosting but I saw now that you weren't but yeah you are totally right about that.

food_consult, if there is a problem with a persons business practises, then it has nothing to do with their age but more to do with their personality and their maturity.

I am 17 and consider myself to be more mature than most 25 year olds.

Yes , and nothing to do with running Business from Home or Bedrooms.
Apple started by two young guys in Garage.
Some of us Old guys still run businesses from Home .I have little choice being
Confined to Wheelchair and Limited Mobility.

Age is not an issue here..... The fact that you ae 17 is clear enough why you can not comprehend this situation!

You clearly state that age is not an issue in this thread and yet you say that because he is 17, he cannot comprehend the situation?

IMHO, you just can't accept the fact that NOT all teens run a business the way you think they do. Anyone of any age can be mature and stick to their promises if they know and want to, they can do it! Your completely underestimating teenagers just because of the fact that you had a bad experience with a teen running a webhost, that's just not the case here, just because you had a bad experience with one teen, it doesn't mean you can generalize and think that ALL teens are of this nature.

We are ALL different people and unique in our own ways. The way you see things is that ALL teens are the same and just immature when in fact, your the one that needs to stop generalizing and actually try to think outside the square for once.

Like Barefoottech mentioned, Apple was started by two young boys in a garage, what's wrong with starting a webhost in your bedroom?

The general point i'm trying to get across is the fact that not everyone is what you think they are unless you actually try to get to know them. You think that because we are teens, we are not capable to understand and comprehend certain aspects in that only adults can? Your absolutely wrong man :) Not ALL of our brains are as small and undeveloped as you may think.

Besides, if teens didn't start early in the business, you think big and successful companies like Apple, etc. would exist right now?

Man, just try to understand me here, anyone of any age can make a business successful if they have the will and if they believe in themselves.

If people didn't take AGE as seriously as they do at the moment, I think that ALOT of adults and older people in general would have a GREAT time doing business with teenagers. :tu:

If anyone disagrees with what i think, please make sure you actually try to read my whole post before you try to quote me :)

You see at a younger age most TEENAGERS don't understand responsibility...
In this case I gave this young man my business to help him make more money. Yet, he refuses to hire anyone to provide additional tech support no phone number to call for emergency support, and he is always making excuses for lack of service or uptime... ((one only makes excuses at a younger age, as you grow you learn people don't want excuses they want solutions))

That is all I have to say!!!

That was an auto reply from your online chat... that no one is ever attending to

I give up on this KID!! He is responding to my posts but is still not providing support ...

All you had to do was provide a little service , but you are hiding... That shows your age

Or better YET! Pick Up the phone and call me to work things out

food_consult: what were the specs of the server that you're sites supposedly used 60% of its memory?

A nice income to a minor is usually $200 a month (that's after expenses). You run some serious legal problem hosting with a minor. Legally their TOS can't be enforced and any legal action you take on to them must be on their parents. You can't legally go into ANY contract with a minor without parental consent. It's a VERY bad idea to do serious business with a child. You can do some easy deals like buying a template or paying for some posts but if you think that hosting with a minor who most likely has no business license you're just ignorant and dumb. No hosting is cheap enough to go with some 14 year old kid. Not even for free..so many bad things can happen. 14 years olds have mood swings, act impetuously, and have raging hormones. It's called puberty.

http://www.coolnurse.com/puberty.htm

Common concerns related to the adolescent’s behavior include: risk-taking behavior, rebelliousness, wasting time, mood swings, drug experimentation, school problems, psychosomatic complaints and sexual activity.

yeah just who you should host with...

wait a minute

people moan they want high spec servers with high ammounts of ram

so whats the point in putting 1gb ecc ram into a server if all your going to do is moan about that fact 53% memory is being used. you still have another 47% to go.

the server isnt under a high load, in actual fact the server seems almost dead. 11% used on /

the ram is there to be used. not to sit there looking pretty when only 14% is used.

Perhaps you could reconsider what you just said.

You claim that ONLY teenagers make excuses, that is total rubbish.

I am NOT irresponsible when it comes to money, in fact I work full time ATM in order to raise some short term capital, as well as starting up the local webdesign branch of my company. I earn more, and save more than ANY teen that I know.

Exactly, food_consult just can't understand that teenagers aren't the only people that are irresponsible. It does take time to become a responsible person but when your doing business, you learn to become more and more responsible everyday as you slowly realize that responsibility is a big factor towards the success of your business.

IMO, the nature of someones posts alone says a lot about a person, their level of maturity and their business sense.

Not one single person in the world is the same as another, so you just CANNOT generalise.
