Hello.

I have just sold the domain "Tutorial.app" for 5000€ on Sedo. With all the Sedo fees I'm getting only something like 4000€. Do you think that this is still a good deal or should I have waited longer and keep this domain for something like 10.000€?

Also, I have sold "ebanking.app" for just 200€. Do you think that was worth it?

Kind regards,
VayDesign

I've paid 59€ for ebanking.app and 1000€ for tutorial.app on united domains. So I don't know about the exact renewal fee on other providers like GoDaddy in USD currency.
in my opinion :

ebanking.app should be much more worth thank tutorial.app 😅

this was really brave to invest 1000 on tutorial.app 😎

lucky it worked out

Most of "premium" .app domains come with high renewal cost. $1000/year is pretty common for .app.

The question is, does the buyer know about the hight renewal fee, what he's/she's gonna do when finds out.

If it were .com, i.e. some .com domains (as in wet Verisign's dreams) got "premium" renewals, then that question would be more relevant. As it is normal for .app domains to have huge renewal fees, that question imho is not so actual.

Normal for who? General public has limited knowledge And mostly They dont bother to make a research, just saying...

Normal for .app domains. They were expensive from the beginning, so I would assume that those who want .app domains are likely aware of their expensive pricing.

I think this is excellent return on a domain you didn't have to wait years end of story.

I consider myself a professional domainer and I would sell it for 200. Maybe both you and buyer were unprofessional and this made this sale possible :P

...or should I have waited longer and keep this domain for something like 10.000€...

You could have done even a basic development (perhaps a blog) and instead of waiting, actually earned a much higher price. As a name only YES!... Congrats.

Yes, maybe. But I think it isn't worth the risk, because we have to pay those high 1.000€ renewal fee soon. We also have several other premium domains like Tips.app or Teen.app and spent 13.000€ in total for over 130+ .app domains.
We want to reach that investment value first.

BTW, we have just sold currencies.app for 500€ now. I wasn't sure to open a new thread for this or just mention it here.

So you would have bought the domain for $1000usd and sold it for $200?

Send me a list of what you are selling please ;) :D

1000€ is a big commission fee on a 5000€ sale. That's 20% of the sale. Without knowing who the buyer is it is difficult to know if you left money on the table. Both domains are good.

Once, a while back, I was contacted by a broker on a domain that I ended up selling for over 7K USD. It was the first offer I got while sitting on the name for a few years. It turned out later that the buyer was a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company and the domain was one of their niche product categories. Would I have asked for more had I known that? Sure.

Lessons learned: 1) get as much stats on your domains as possible so don't park them at mainstream marketplaces, 2) know well the markets your domains fit best.
