Why always having to login TWICE on GoDaddy auctions?

NameSilo

I am in and out of the GoDaddy auction pages several times a day and I am becoming quite frustrated with always having to log in twice! Whether I go straight to the GD auction page, or click on a GD auction reminder email, I am confronted with "Already an Auctions Member? Login here".

So I log in, correct name and correct password and hit Enter. Now I am always taken to the standard GoDaddy account login page, where I have to log in a second time. This time, I finally get to the GD auctions pages with my saved searches and watch list etc.

There would seem to be absolutely no security aspect to this, just total annoyance on my part. So what's going on GoDaddy??

Here in India, we don't have to see to Big Mike's face 20 times a day.
We have someone else smiling on behalf of Godaddy's messed up coders....
No offense to Big Mike, who's my long time buddy by now, but... what's the URL for this signup with Neeta? :xf.wink:

Been like that for years.

Drives me crazy!
It hasn't been like that for years. Your issue may be related to cookies or something where the browser doesn't remember you like a blocker software of some kind or may have been in the past.

What the OP is referring to is that after you are already logged in to your Godaddy account, and then go to the auctions page, you then have to login to the auctions area, separately, even though you are already logged in to your main Godaddy account.

Frankly, it is aggravating to have to login twice.

Once you are logged in to your main GD account you should be able to navigate any where in the system freely.

This is not the case, at least not the last time I was logged in to GD and used the auction system.

Respectfully, cookies and ad blockers have nothing to do with it.

TL;DR: GD is a buggy platform.

Read carefully, he's actually talking about logging in twice back to back, a problem which is back on my account..
But you are right about that other problem..

Theres a lot of problems..
Next year is 20th anniversary.

A ticket to Hydrabad would do. you can personally meet her in Godaddy's office (I assume)

Oh dont cover up.
I have 2FA enabled, but still I have to "login again" every time I open auctions dashboard or godaddy dashboard. I spent several hours describing this to support (and my personal manager in godaddy) tried private browser and even different browser, but there seems to be no way to get "Remember me" to work.

And it has been like that ever since.

Godaddy investor app has slightly longer life of a login session.

There is no extra security in being forced to login several times a day on a PC you have already authenticated by 2FA and marked as trusted (by clicking "remember me"). just trouble no extra security.

Guragaon, not Hyderabad... :xf.wink:
I will call her "Neeta". She's a single mother of two. Left her husband, who has a drinking problem and she went to work at the Guragaon office of Godaddy. She's a "can do" kind of woman and she is making a great life for her and the kids, all on her own.

Yes, Godaddy office is in Gurgaon. But support phone is 040-67607600 (040 is so I assumed that call center is in Hydrabad.
(And "Neeta" belongs to call center not technical team)

That is correct. I explained that you do have to login twice and stated the only way to login once with 2fa that I know. However cookies do have an issue where you will have to login multiple times in some use cases. I am trying to help people avoid that as well.

you do have to login twice

Why?

It makes no sense!

I would understand if the auctions site was run by another company and you were redirected to their site when

logging in, but GD auctions is part of GD, and navigated to within the same interface.

The link is even in the main GD navigation bar.

Why in the world would it be necessary to login separately?

This is a major inconvenience and it should not be so.

Obviously the real reason is different than this. The short answer is we are in the middle of reworking the back end on the auctions and have been for a while. This is one unfortunate hold out that will not be completely resolved until the beginning of next year sometime. You are correct, you do have to login twice. The way to get around this is to use the login on the top right side of the page only and you will then only have to see Big Mike and login 1 time until the whole back end revamp is completed.

Any progress on this @Joe Styler? I'm still having to log in twice. I also have problems with my laptop screen not being responsive so I keep having to resize it.

Thanks -

It would also be cool if the cookie lasted more than 6 minutes. Every time I visit GD auctions I have to login (twice)...

It's a not big deal since i have the password saved its just annoying that every. single. time. I gotta login.

This issue is still happening (at least to me) in November of 2022.

In addition, within the past two months I can no longer buy GD Closeout domains.....

If I am logged in to GD, it will not allow me to add to cart. If I am logged out, it will allow to me to add to cart, BUT when I try to log in, it will not let me lig in (IF there is a closeout domain in my cart).

Yes. This is for available domains....

I will email GD support but this is quite odd...

Strange indeed, but the Godaddy checkout process for Auction purchases is horrendously buggy.

In fact, I think I have exactly the same problem. It will then empty my cart and my purchase is lost or hung up in limbo for 2 hours minimum.

I believe I found a trick that works, however. Before doing any "buy now", log in from the Auctions page and also make sure "keep me logged in" is selected. Then proceed to "buy now" and your checkout process should complete successfully.

Let me know if this works for you!

Bottom line: constant work-arounds shouldn't be the rule of thumb.

I will try this!!! Thank you...
Unfortunately, they just brought me to a 404 page (not found)

I forgot to mention that I do all my domaining from my smartphone....

Are you operating from a mobile device or are you on a laptop/desktop?

I will try your workaround from my office desktop tomorrow.....

Thank you

Yeah, essentially always on my smartphone. 404 page, I've never encountered that, it seems unrelated.

OK though, I should clarify. Don't log in by clicking the stupid icon (humanoid?) at top. Instead, click on the button where it says "Already an Auctions member?"

I hate the Godaddy interface.

Still no luck, I have emailed their support.

Very odd...

GD Auctions Support has replied....here you go:

Apparently back in 2012 one of the domains I had back then sold (no idea for how much). Anyway I was letting all my domains drop and getting out of domaining back then so I stopped checking websites etc.

GD Support told me that I failed to deliver this domain ans, as a result' my Auctions priveleges had been suspended. Odd, but okay....I WAS able to buy GD Closeouts earlier this year, but perhaps my increased activity triggered something on their end.

Anyway, they will hopefully reinstate my priveleges once I pay some Administration fee....

Very odd....wonder what my old domain sold for?? Lol

Always something
