Hi,

Just a heads-up for anyone considering making the same mistake i did for buying a domain backorder credit ($25) using GoDaddy. They don't give a refund after 30 days... So when you don't catch a domain right away and after a couple of fails you don't get a refund. Very bad business practice and i would say a scam for not providing any service but just steal your money.

I have had 2 times a domain dropped and i just handregd the domain besides using the GoDaddy dropcatcher. The GoDaddy domain backorder is really a bad joke and simple not working even when there is no other competitor trying to catch the domain.

Just use Dropcatch or any other domain backorder company.

Always keep a close eye on it. If the name is in your account due XX day, make sure it doesn't just disappear. If it does, get ahold of them immediately and let them know and that you want a refund. I have so far gotten refunds for every name that never made it to my account for whatever reason.

The OP here is talking about GoDaddy's Backorder Service and not a bid on an expired domain. Two different beasts. The backorder service has been kind of a joke for well over a decade now.

And after a failed backorder attempt, you retain a credit for another backorder, but that is kind of pointless and a waste of $25 as the OP unfortunately has discovered.

@Type-In did you call the customer support?

Yes i called the customer support and have spoken to Sylvia. Explained the situation and let her talk to a manager. Se returned to me with the bad news. I told her to ask for a second time to the manager about this issue. She promised i was going to be contacted by email within a couple of days from this manager. But 20 minutes after the call i got a closing statement with a link to the 30 days / no refund policy.

I have send a message to the Namepros GoDaddy rep Joe Styler asking if he can try to resolve this issue. But i understand it is weekend. But still i like to give a heads-up to my fellow domainers about my bad experience.

good luck with that OP.

Related- dropcatch is not accepting bids? Is this a known issue or probably just an issue with my account?

Update.

Joe Styler has quickly looked into the issue and made a refund request. Many thanks to him for resolving this issue.
