I have been reading a bit about the process of domain parking and the fact that you can get advertising $$ from people clicking the ads on a parked domain. In the overall marketing process of a domain name…How important is domain parking? And What do you learn from the advertising analytics?

Any thoughts, RR

If there is a considerable and quality traffic for the domain then maybe, otherwise not worth it!

Not as much money as it used to be before the search engine gods (small 'g' intentional) changed things for the worse, but some money is better than no money.

I am a big fan of voodoo and recommend them as a parking solution. Donny and the others there are really responsive and helpful.

I am new here...what has the search engine gods done to change things?

Maybe a landing page that does just one thing "advertises that domain is for sale" Is that better? And not worry about the click ad $$...Any thoughts, RR

It was my way of expressing what giggle 'insert o where necessary' has done to us with regards to parking revenue, but nobody stays on top forever..be it businesses, countries or ex-wives. It will be a couple of years or more but a new and improved search solution will be chipping away at the foundation.

You simply put a banner at the top of the page (easy with vdoo) that will take you to a page to make an offer or to buy (while you are checking things out, check out Epik as registrar for your future registrations). If your name is a 'brandable' or has no significant potential as to income from clicks, just put up a hard landing page with a fixed price or a make an offer button...best wishes.

I have never parked a single domain. I am still doing rather good as a domainer, and bought my first one in the 1990s.

How important is domain parking?

parking, may only be important to those who currently park domains

however, from a get to know your domain perspective....
one should park their domains just to see if they get any traffic, clicks or earnings, before trying to sell them the next day.

to me, that's an important reason to park a domain.

imo...

Luck! ;)

No, seriously, start a realistic project that you like (or even love). Work hard (everyday) and make it the best website in the world, about your specific topic.

I have only made ONE such website and project (from 1998-2016), but the income I made from this still provides for me being able to build a house etc.
