so I was looking for hologram3d.com to see if it is available, it was available but as usual when a good name is available it will be a premium domain, guess how much it costs...
$57,500

OMG.. really????

Domain registrars are very greedy and they are killing domains market, the prices of premium domains are just crazy! There are millions of good domain names not registered and nobody touches them because they are premium names, leaving new businesses and websites with less quality alternative names.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
probably forgot to remove it after it dropped.
Such registrants usually don't care about others... and too hard task for them to keep their accounts up to date.

I don't believe there are ANY .com domains held back from the Registry except the single letter .com's. That should clear up most of these discussions. but when it comes to the NGTLD's its a much different matter. There you have to see if the domain is registerable with the registrar at that price, or if it's already registered and for sale by the owner at that price.

Actually .. I'm pretty sure 2L (and possibly 2N and/or 2C) are not available as well. Unless they are grandfathered from when they were allowed. Can't recall where I heard that .. nor if there are many? Nor am I even 100% .. i'm just fairly sure I heard it a while back.

Not sure if they have a separate black list or not?

OP, some clarity:

If your search brings up a result similar to "This premium name is available!" at any domain platform, it does not mean it's a "premium" name. It just means it is already registered by someone and is listed for sale somewhere by some person.

Domain selling platforms describe all aftermarket names as "premium". Somewhat misleading, indeed. But in their eyes, because the name commands a higher purchase price than the reg fee, it may only be bought at a "premium".

** Applies to dot-com, not to the nGtlds. These premium puppies often are unregistered, and are "premium" right out the gate by the registries themselves. In which case..

..Premium domains are killing us softly with their song, with this song telling our whole life, it is a premium domain killing us softly..

Some registrars add their "premiums" (10 percent) to mls domains. Then they would become domains with premiums rather than premium domains.

People find a domain on mls and purchase them directly, but if they visit the domain first, they can get better deals.

@topdom yea it amazes me people who buy through registries without visiting the domain. I am usually happy to give a 10-20% discount if they contact me directly.

Yes @andydotlol - it amazes me how many sales I get through Afternic (where they end up taking a big commission) where if the buyer had first just typed the name into their browser they would find my "Make Offer" landing page where I would gladly negotiate a lower price than what is listed on Afternic ... but only down to what my net sale amount would have been if sold at Afternic - but still would save the buyer 15-20% depending on the market place!

And yes - when putting your names on Afternic, no matter how bad, if someone searches for that name in GoDaddy it is listed as a "Premium" domain name!

Great news to me. I would have assumed the domain you were looking for was gone long ago so no great loss. This is the business we are in do.you want to keep quick flipping names or buy technology that isn't aready around and sit and wait for your pie.
