Hello @DivinelyBlessed .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

Asking a single person to teach you all the fundamentals of domaining is really not a reasonable request when there are so many resources in this very forum and on the various blogs/podcasts for you to learn from already.

The basics of domaining is rather simple (buy low .. sell high) .. but getting a grasp of what makes a good domain is a very vast and wide skill-set that brings in multiple sets of knowledge from being domain specific, out to marketing, language, individual industry knowledge etc etc etc ...

Take the time to read the various corners of the forum. Post your domain(s) in the appraisals section to get feedback from the community. If you have any questions about anything then definitely feel free to ask in the forums if your questions aren't already answered .. if you make an effort to learn the basics yourself then you'll find most members here will be very helpful to answer specific questions .. particularly in the forum where the answers can help everyone.

Another tip I can offer aside from reading tons in the forums, is to go listen to the last few years worth of @DomainSherpa reviews and interviews.

I also suggest you look at the various daily lists like the ones I do at NameCult and the list section of NamePros (see my signature below for links). Then from those lists pick a few domains you think are best and then follow them when they go on auction to see how high (or low) they went for (keeping in mind there is a huge difference between domainer-to-domainer sales compared to end-user retail sales).

Anyhow .. best of luck to you in your learning process! :)

Hello @DivinelyBlessed and welcome to NamePros. As others have said, domain investing is a complex business that takes awhile to learn. What I've learned in my first few months is that it's best to read and consider all points of view - you'll find many expressed here. Then you can do some experimenting with buying and listing domains and work out a strategy of your own. This is a fun and engaging business but requires effort and patience.
Best to you!

Be careful of anyone here who is willing to mentor you for money or other compensation, especially if they do it via PM. Lots of terrible domainers out there willing to help you go broke.

Hello!

Suggest you determine what are your realistic ( ! ) domain goals and what is your personal level of commitment - time - effort - cash - you are willing to invest in achieving your domain goals.

Search out and read all you can that applies to your personal goals and commitment and try to utilize that new knowledge as part of a personal goal plan.

Its' easier to put CASH IN than to CASH OUT!

A sale is your best mentor

Look at the sold topics, see how the domains sold.

Mimic as much as possible.... wash, rinse, repeat.

Welcome to NPs @DivinelyBlessed ! Lots of good advice already.
  • Start slow.
  • Be realistic.
  • Be as logical and quantitative as possible
(using NameBio to examine what has sold when and for how much)
  • Use what you already know (i.e. invest in areas you know)
  • Be open to new ideas
  • Be innovative
  • Be professional in dealing with others
  • Be careful not to pay for things you don't need, and get best prices on services you need.
Best wishes. NamePros is full of wise experienced people who freely share.

Bob

Look into DnAcademy

Or create a new profile with stolen pics of a hot girl then as for a mentor

.COM - dont get sucked into the new new & new old dot whatevers. Once you are ready to mentor someone else on .coms, then start looking into other domain types.

you will save much time, $, & headache if you stick with coms as you learn

good luck!!

Hello,
Welcome to NP!:xf.smile:

As said above from others, this forum is a great guide and is a mentor of its own.

Use the search box for any questions you may have and I'm sure most are already answered in other threads. If your questions are not answered then ask away and I'm sure some of the pros will be glad to help.

Read, learn, and have patience with your venture

Good luck!

The Domain Name Wire podcast is on Spotify and has many nuggets of wisdom from industry giants like Frank Schilling, Mike Mann and Rick Schwartz.

Haha....Like it or not, once you are into it then slowly it becomes an addiction. While reading newspaper or see a cachy billboard make me check those names to see if it's available.
