This is very similar to the Gab incident:

We’ve all heard the phrase "if you don't like the rules, build your own site!" Well, recently reddit went on a purging spree and deleted the “incels” as well as “braincels” subreddits so someone went and made his own site.

incels(.)me is a message board site for self described “involuntary celibates.” Some anger obviously gets on this message board but not a lot of it is hate speech from a simple skim of the site. The .me registry (a level above the godaddys of the world) was apparently alerted to some non-violent “hate speech” on the site and Without communication, pulled the plug in the website

Here’s the websites official press release with details on the matter: https://incels.is/press/PressRelease101918.pdf

For anyone with a dot ME website, be aware of this overreach. “Free speech” is being weaponized by a certain ideological group to take down speech they disagree with. Or forefathers wouldn’t believe it if they saw it. I just see this situation as infrastructure companies (pipes) attacking free speech. I think registries should be neutral and act as utilities, not site moderators.... especially since nothing illegal was posted.

The .me registry will serve pornography websites but then act like they’re moral compass and ban a message board with words? Hypocrisy.

The Incels.me site already rebranded to incels.is, but this situation along with the gab one is showing a trend online

They are welcome at Epik. To be clear, just as I was not a Gab user, I am also not an advocate for the MGTOW lifestyle. In fact, I am happily married to an amazing woman. However, just as feminists have their movements, the male equivalent now have theirs. And while I don't rule out that they are being played into embracing their lack of opportunity to produce offspring, they can still have a voice on the Internet where like-minded persons can congregate in public as long as they are not harming others. Enough said.

Never heard of this before, searched for definition:

"who define themselves as unable to find a romantic or sexual partner despite desiring one, a state they describe as inceldom."

"The subreddit was known as a place where men blamed women for their involuntary celibacy, sometimes advocated for rape or other violence, and were misogynistic and often racist"

Am I really reading this right? Guys that can't get laid, hop online and sometimes advocate rape and other violence?

And if that's true, there was advocating rape and violence, you're confused as why they might have an issue with it?

Or is there more to it? Or did I find a bad source and it's different kind of content?

They are welcome at Epik.

Honestly, I think they mostly bemoan their inceldom and compare notes about coping strategies for dealing with women who are keeping up with the Kardashians.

There is archive.org. Found this in about a minute:

"13 year old women are sexual beings, not innocent little butterflies."

"Only incels are called pedos. Women are most fertile at 13-18 years of age."

"So rape them like never before. They want to be sex objects; treat them like it. What about the law? Think a bullet gives a fuck about what sort of badge you carry?"

https://web.archive.org/web/2018052...arting-to-slut-it-up-like-never-before.43078/

Now, you really don't understand why they took action? Is this really the type of stuff you want to welcome?

That is a disturbing thread.

what's your point? You can find violent terroristic threats on twitter profiles

Found this in 20 seconds in archives:
http://archive.is/1oRhk

so when can we expect you to vouch to shut down twitter? Or will you continue on with the double standard

Your first 2 examples are meaningless because in some places around the world like Mexico, the age of consent is 12.You don't seem very tolerant about other countries beliefs. Are you racist?

And still no comment on terroristic twitter threats. Shocker

"And I'm not sure what part of, if this kind of content is anywhere, it should get handled."

Is there a magical number of times I need to post something before you get it? I believe in the other thread I posted the same thing and you liked the post.

How do you know it didn't get handled? You had to go to an archive site to find this. I wonder why

Btw- have you ever managed a site? Its impossible to find everything bad immediately

Besides your first post of them getting the boot? I asked you earlier about the definition, you skipped that. If that's the topic, then I would expect that type of content.

So every site who ever got booted from a host or service provider was booted justifiably? No one in The history of business on the internet has ever crossed the line and done something wrong? Interesting I didn't know

.me registry didn't even communicate to the site admin. If they cared about the content they would have told them about it

Yes, that's becoming quite clear.

You said earlier the messages of being attracted to 17 year olds is pedophilia. How so? 17 and 16 are legal age of consent in about 30+ US states. How is it pedophilia?

I Dont advocate any of the comments on the site, but if it is lawful, it is free speech. Plain and simple

I work with the American Bible Society and their .BIBLE. Epik has sold more of them than anyone. They have specific ToS that you agree to when you register one. I am sure .ME does not. That is the issue. The .ME registry crossed a line, and is highlighting a problem. As .ME is a ccTLD, there is also no appeal process as it is unlikely that they would ever become governed by ICANN. The long-timers at ICANN will likely say it has been discussed for years. I don't doubt it.

So, inceldom advocacy has come to NamePros too? Well, good luck with that.

I am with you too on this issue. Read about incels on Quora early this year, men blaming women for their celibacy, and in some cases, threatening harm. And we want to term that free speech too? What a world?

https://domain.me/policies/

"In addition to any other rights of doMEn, doMEn reserves the right to deny or cancel the registration, renewal, or transfer of any .Me domain name, or to place any .Me domain name on registry lock, hold, or similar status, with respect to any such domain name that doMEn, upon reasonable belief, deems is being used in a manner that facilitates abusive behavior, including the above."

I am not sure why .Bible should have the unique ability to determine who they do business with. If they can, so can .ME, especially since they are not even governed by ICANN policies.

It is how they wrote their agreements. I am not endorsing it, I am just explaining the protocol. There is no special .ME ToS on any registrar checkout that I have come across. That's the point.

That's fine, though I really don't care if that is a policy. I don't think it is right to be excluded from registering and using a .Bible because someone has a different view point.

You are acting like you are some free speech warrior, then at the same time are supporting an extension that is only looking for like minded people. That in itself is anti free speech.

I am beginning to think you just like to create conflict and debate for the sake of it. :)

My point is that there should be transparency. WYSIWYG. I am underwhelmed by registries that would arbitrarily take down a domain. I am also underwhelmed by a registry that would increase prices by 30X.

For me, this is about intellectual property rights. If I buy high-end waterfront land the city reclassifies it as a wetland, then I got ripped off.

It is the same story with a domain. If you buy it, build it, brand it, and then the registry decommissions you, then you got ripped off and that is not cool. It could wipe a business owner out. And sadly, that happens.

Oh that is what it is about. I thought it was about free speech and other principles like that.

"The Bible community consists of all persons, organizations and institutions associated with the
historic orthodox Christian faith or the historic Jewish faith that consider the Bible, as it has been
preserved in their respective faith traditions, to be the sole sacred text of their faith"

Additionally, their TOS is almost identical to .ME when it comes to cancelling or suspending a domain at their own discretion.

So basically everyone who is not like minded is excluded.

I am sorry but when you are talking about free speech issues, then promoting an exclusive registry like .Bible it is mighty hypocritical in my view.

The difference here is that there is an explicit ToS for .BIBLE. Check it out:

See the 5th Checkbox.

That is TRANSPARENCY. I like it.

Yeah, my issue is with the policy itself. It might be transparent, but it is still anti free speech.
