No. I don't understand. Are you talking about .com or another extension ? The pricing is obviously different.

What I mentioned is the regular price that registrars pay Verisign + Icann for a .com domain.
The registry may have promos that we don't know of, and of course some registrars sell domains at a loss (the first year) or offset the loss with other services like hosting.

But if the OP wants 5000 .com at $5 I think he needs to find a registrar who willing to sell at a loss for a couple thousands dollars.

Please post a link if you can find better pricing.
