discuss To those who say don't rely on Appraisal Bot tools...

I keep seeing these people who don't trust the AI or code of appraisal tools... but you know, machines are getting smarter and smarter and even now I believe it's wrong to say ignore the estibot or godaddy appraisal values.

So please prove me wrong and come up with some names here that are around $2000 GoDaddy appraisal bot value and are not taken. Feel free to share them publicly as well and see how fast your names will be gone.

I personally have come up with some as well, but I'd rather not share as they have some potential :)

Now I know that sometimes it will be very off for made-up names (because obviously that has a human element to it) and names maybe some names that are very long, but the algorithms there is pretty good and I'd say it's around a 80-90%+ accuracy.

It seems to take into account:
  • Domain length
  • Domain Sales / popularity for the particular keywords
  • Search volume
  • Some append to the domain name seems to be accurate, like Host.com is more than $25,000 but if you make it Hhost it's ~$4000 and Hostt is $4198
It really makes it easy at a glance to see the value, so in Expired Domains I see a lot of people using the valuation as a basis on the bid. Usually the ones with higher valuation gets more popular & more bids.

So please prove me wrong or feel free to add anything to my analysis. Cheers.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The truth is, it takes a lot of time and effort to come up with a .COM name that is around $2000 godaddy valuation that's not taken. I literally tried thousands combinations using Domain Name analyzer app to speed up the process by combining high value keywords. To find only one such name.

So by the time you find one that's not taken, truth is there will be some emotional attachment to the name. And if you think these names are worthless because the Bot estimations are obviously wrong to you, then feel free to share the names with us :)

I use bot only for another view point on the price but don't make my decision based upon this. Now a days I use it very less. In the available domains section many domainers are giving away free info about names avail to hand reg generally between $1k to $2k GoDaddy appraisal value.
In GoDaddy auction lots of other factors play role in the auction far more imp than appraisal value.

Thanks, lets see how fast it will be gone. It's a nice name if related to the sea I think. A website for Healthy sea products (seaweed? ) could be viable on it.

How did you come up with this and how many names did you try?

do they give $2000 names often? I don't see it very much.

What other factors do you take into account?

Here is a thread I'm watching. https://www.namepros.com/threads/br...-with-gd-appraisal-extrapriority-com.1097673/
I might reject $2000 appraised name and will select few names given in this thread. My point is appraisal value doesn't matter much for me.
If it's imp for you then you can buy hundreds of domain in $10/domain price by requesting it in domain request section. You will surely get domains appraised above $2000 in $10 or less.
You can study lots of past threads about GoDaddy auction to know which factors work.I don't want to repeat everything.

I agree to an extent @cixxy - for a ball park figure they can be useful though a bot value of 1-2k does not guarantee a sale of course, the hard work still has to be done and its still a numbers game. Remember a GD bot valuing your domain at 2k does not mean Godaddy want to give you 2k for it, unfortunately :)

Yeah the fact is on that thread, BrandCougar posted a lot of names with around a $1400 appraisal average and still, 75%+ of the names posted are all taken.

But you're right. LibraryLynx doesn't mean much to me either for example and the valuation dropped to $1600 from 2000 when he posted.

I think they are still good names, it's just that they are hard to sell because the market is very small for those keywords.

Yeah I know. I think $1k godaddy valuation names are nothing special but $2k and you're onto something to be honest. Most of these names are usually worth something, isnt it? So worth holding onto imo.

Of course domains take time to sell , but usually these names WILL sell because they are usually great names. Like even entrepreneurs will end up searching for the exact same name that you have & wanting it since it's so good.

Yeah I've noticed that - while they may hand out 500-1k-1.5k valuations like they are going out of fashion there is a clear distinction between the names they value at 2k+ - in general, much better quality names.

Yeah these places usually want to keep the $2000+ names they research and give the ones lower as freebies :)

I noticed that as a pattern.

I think with technology where it is today, someone is going to figure out an awesome algorithm that will be able to valuate very very close to what a domain names value truly is, we just aren't there yet, but i expect such a tool soon.

the current valuators aren't that bad IMO, they can be manipulated though, computers are smarter than we are, you shouldn't be able to manipulate the valuator tool.

75% of the names is taken not because of only appraisal value. It's because of quality of name. Surely he would have found many names in the $1500 range but posted only selected names from it.
41418 .com is appraised only $682 by Godaddy but see the bid went to $1802
https://in.godaddy.com/domain-auctions/41418-com-268663783

And there are many domains in Godaddy closeouts appraised above $2500 no one is buying.

Yeah I'm using expired domains for that. They are 3x the price of a normal .com so it's not easy for me to make the decision to reg them. I can hand-reg for 3x less on dynadot / namesilo.

No one is buying those ones because there's something still wrong with them. They may be better than average but like IslandMeets . com is a nice name but very niche for a business name. Also GoldPropertyBank is maybe too long but nice otherwise. There was another one with high valuation GreenGoldExchange recently there that I didn't want to buy (too long) but someone took in a few hours.

I regged a lot of great ones recently thanks to that though. Many of mine like p h o n e t i t l e is $3k valuation and d o w n m o r t g a g e is $3.5k valuation.

Ok what does 41418 mean, is it a chinese name? Why is that so high in bids right now, I dont get it.

Also like he posted a name which is $2k valuation ShopDebt , it's a nice one that combines two high value keywords. But it's rare to see that. Usually they are around $1500 value that are given for free.

Like I said you have to come up with it yourself, which is the purpose of the post. To know the accuracy it comes from trial & error.

Definitely, like I said right now it's probably at 80-90% accuracy for GoDaddy appraisal. It's getting there.

I personally do a quick a very quick check on Godaddy appraisal but it is not a game changer for me, I have started to pay attention to sales history of keywords, developing trends within an industry and also dabbling with Brandables, which do not get high appraisal values anyway.

IMO if you have Geo Names, then their tool can be very valuable as a selling point to end users as it is a trusted brand and you can potentially show a discounted price to what Godaddy's valuation is and still make a good ROI.

That's correct about the exceptions like: developing trends within an industry don't get high appraisal but are great ones to reg of course.

And brandables don't get high appraisal since they are madeup and its hard for AI to appraise that I guess. But I think eventually there will be an algo that will be more accurate for that as well.

For the sale history of keywords though I believe GD appraisal takes that into account. Manual research is still a bonus anyway.

That's a nice hint about Geo names, cheers.

Price-wise it's ok for me as I also get an age factor in GoDaddy closeout which is something not available in hand reg. I also have found sometimes good names in closeouts but had not purchased based only on appraisal value. It's just an indicator that it might be a good name.Given the same group of names each domainer will bid on different list of names. So it's a personnel choice and interest in the name as well.

the GD appraisal is basing it on the popularity of the 2 key words... does mean those 2 words work well each other.

Appraisals are an easy tool.

Common sense is more important.

You mean "doesn't mean". But I disagree. Try searching CheapFlights . com for example - $24,877 valuation. It's based on search volume as well.

Also it probably searches similar keyword sales. Eg. Cheap has a synonym for Discount . This will also bring up the Discount keyword in value if a high value sale goes through. And thus DiscountFlights will be up in valuation : $13,280

I know this first hand by looking at my domain D o w n M o r t g a g e . A similar sale like Lower/Mortgage went through and my domain went up $1000 in valuation to $3551

GD is suprisingly good tool for valuating better quality domains, but I primarily trust common sense + research (past sales, niche, kw, trends etc..).

Btw, did anyone notice large fluctuations in apprasials lately? Today I've got 3 different appraisals for the same name during the day, for example from 3K to 5K which is big difference imo.

Yes today my domains changed a lot in prices! Like I said my 2.6k domain went to 3.5k

Maybe an update which is nice for some of my domains but not for others.

Not sure if it will be fluctuating more now or this is like a monthly thing...

such appraisal prices/tools, are basically what to "ask" if somebody contacts "you"...and you have no idea of value or how to conceive of a price.

when you start giving validity to algo results, then those same results may soon dictate, how much you can or can't sell your names for.

and that's your friggin destiny, every time your use one.

imo...
