18% off is for renewals, many registrars have higher renewal prices. Not all, but many do.

Additionally, Namecheap has the lowest price for 22 TLDs right now, including .us, .pro, .cc, .vip, .mobi. This list is not static, various TLDs are getting discounted all the time.

On top of that you have regular promo codes/coupons: https://www.namecheap.com/promos/coupons/

yeah thats basically true. most of their coupons are completely inconsequential due to terrible regular prices vs some other registrars.

but hey.. thanks a million for those once a year transfer promos.. last year was kickazz!

You can get a better price than that by 2 dollars and lower at several places right now. Their regular price is bad and that is no sale price. They might have a real deal on Black Friday.
