information I will never help another domainer

So I have a guy hit me up with an unsolicited direct message asking me to buy a 3 letter domain -he did the same thing months ago with another name and I nicely said no.
He wanted 6 figures months ago and now 50k. It is a nice 3 letter but I am trying to sell Birdsnest.com and pacemakers.com right now so I’m tied up.
The guy keeps messaging me so I decide to help him out and I reach out to my big boy contacts - I try not to bother these guys unless it’s something good and out of my range.
This is on Monday - a holiday where I live. My big guy gives me a number and the seller doesn’t like it. Ok - don’t take it - goodbye. Nope - comes back with another number. I tell him my big guy won’t negotiate- he insists.
At this point I am a broker on this deal! My big guy literally tells me “ tell him to fuck off” and my big guy is in the middle of closing on a house. The buyer knows all this information and keeps pushing. He finally tells me he will take the big guys offer after hours of telling me he has had better offers. I’m shielding my big guy from all this nonsense to help the seller get a deal done - he seems desperate.
I literally tell him that the big guy is buying a house as we speak - he has to agree and then I will give you his email for escrow. I’m not giving out the big guys name or email to anyone or he will disown me.
He keeps pressing me for his address.
It’s a holiday - I’m off work - my wife is complaining because I’m ignoring her and the kids - it was the last 80 degree day in Buffalo for 7 months. The buyer is busy buying a house with his wife out of the country with a time difference.
I finally get the ok from the big boy to give him an address to start escrow. I DM the buyer the address and.......POOF! Not even a thank you. It’s been 2 days and I know Escrow closed - the last message is me giving him an email address and then silence.
I literally spent hours as a go between helping this seller - I had to keep a buffer or the big boy would have told him to kiss his ass and backed out.
I spent my day off helping someone and not even a thanks - if you read this - it’s normally 10% - you’re welcome- that was a big sale - enjoy you sale and money.

@uglydork hang in there. I get your point. There's a lot of drama on this post while all you were trying to say is, a simple thank you would've been nice.

I understand both parties involved and let's just agree it could've been handled better by both parties, end of story.

We're all human and make mistakes. It doesn't matter as long as we recognize them, learn from it and own up to it.

I think some people are making comments without reading the entire thread. I have read everything and this is what I see.

All @uglydork asked for a simple "thanks", thats it, nothing else. I totally agree with him too, I'd expect the same, that's not asking for much. Forget about who the buyer was, who the seller was or what the name was, that is totally irrelevant here, a simple email saying "thanks for you help" would have been sufficient and would have taken all of 5 seconds to send. If someone had assisted me with a sale like that, I would have made sure that I sent an email like to the person if it was the last thing I did before going to bed, its all about common courtesy and showing your appreciation and gratitude to someone who has taken time out of their day, at no cost at all, to help you make a sale. To all the people going on about "asking for 10%", and "get it in writing" and "dont help someone without agreeing on a fee" etc, its not about that, its not what uglydork wanted, he was trying to help someone. I have often helped people on here, in public threads and using private message and I'm not asking for or expecting any money, I'm doing it to try and help someone, there is nothing wrong with that and not everyone is out to make a quick $$ in this industry.

Regarding the seller, he might have been really busy, was at work, was travelling, doing the school run etc so he may have planned on sending a thanks but just hadn't got around to it, so he may not have been in the wrong either here, its just a situation where timing and situations didn't quite align and it go blown out of proportion.

I think people need to slow down a bit and read the original thread and take it for what it is, and not make assumptions about peoples intentions, bring up old threads and make judgements based on things totally unrelated to this scenario.

I think we can all learn something from this thread

SELLER: sold his name and it sounds like he sold it for alot less than he wanted to. You mentioned he was desperate. great for the seller

BIGBOY buyer: bought a name for his port. sounds like if he was in the middle of buying a house it was a good name for the price

1. you have 2 names you really want to sell birdsnest and pacemakers and they have tied up your free cash.
2. you have access to buyers if people want to sell good names for cheap prices and are really desperate
