Domain portfolio recommendations in 2018?

Hey I'm looking to host my own portfolio. I'm currently checking out Efty, I like it, but I'm not sure I want to pay $15 per month in order to have a secure site. I'm not saying it's not worth it, just that I want to explore other options. I would be all over their $8 plan if it included SSL. I mean one good sale would cover the cost for years, and I'm still considering it as an option, not trying to talk trash about Efty or anything haha, just want to make that perfectly clear.

Anyways, I want to check out some other options too, including self-hosted using a template/theme, so I'm looking for recommendations.

FolioTrader on CodeCanyon seems close to what I'm looking for, if anyone is using it please share a link, I'd love to see it in action with logos, or hear from domainers that like or dislike it.

Some of the other scripts I've seen look kind of dated, anything recent worth checking out, or other sites similar to Efty that allow you to host a portfolio with your own domain that are worth checking out? Does anyone just redirect their portfolio domain to a list of their names on Afternic or Sedo?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I testing it out efty since 4 Oct 2018.

I would say they're not proactive at all after trying it out.

For example, at the time registrant e-mail was no longer visible in the whois. Efty promoted themself as a solution to this problem. But it's not the case, we all knew that many marketplace required a txt record in DNS for verification after this change. If Efty is "proactive" enough they should already let us to add a txt record in DNS for verification for different marketplace. But it didn't happened so far.

Another example is I cannot find any region / IP blocking setting in the back-end panel. I keep receiving some offer of 0.01 USD, 1USD and 2 USD and I really want to block those IP :dead:

Many functions that I think Efty should included are missing. You better setup your own website with a script if you have the knowledge.

I've tested a bunch of scripts and most are outdated now (and clunky.) I now am trying a custom WP install and a HTML5 / CSS3 / Bootstrap site instead.

How much is this going to cost you per domain landing page? Theme, SSL certificate, form spam bots protection, web hosting, etc.

Mostly time and not much else. Hosting is around $9 a month. SSL is free. Forms are free. I bought one of the themes from here with a fully developed site for around $75 I think. Then customized that. That was the WP version. The other one I used free templates and spent many hours customizing and re-coding it until I got the look I desired.

Thanks for the response. The hosting fee is per domain, right? The reason I asked is because I always thought that having your own landers will give you full control on what to show and how things get done. So for a coding-illiterate like myself and a few others, I think the best way to go is Efty landers.

No it’s for all domains except the cost of each domain as a site. So if I own 3 sites I buy 3 domains for $8 or so each then the rest is the same. $9 total per month for reseller hosting plan (unlimited added domains)

Yes sometimes we each have our own way. If Efty works for some then that’s perfect. I don’t mind customizing my stuff so it works for me. I have used Efty and it saved time building out the storefront as well.

I believe the payment methods need some back-end development skills if you decide to build your own and not just stick with a contact form and do the transactions manually. I guess I'm gonna have to pay that $25 "professional" monthly fee after all..

White label is a top priority for me even though I only have less than 40 domains and that plan is for "up to 5000 domains".

I just use Undeveloped or another place to process my transactions safely. I don't bother with PayPal or Stripe. :)

Escrow.com is available at efty marketplaces (haven't had any sale yet so never used it). But I'm sure it is integrated.

Yes. I don't prefer Escrow.com myself, too many headaches.

For starters, I'd change your username at NamePros to not be misspelled. :xf.grin: Got it Dan?

Haven't had the chance to go through a single headache yet so I can't complain. :xf.frown:

....?

Edit: I just Google'd Potatoe and saw something about a fellow named Dan Quayle, so I guess that's the reference that I missed initially haha

Edit 2:

I hadn't heard of this before lol :D

I use them both, Efty is great, IMO, as I really need the (cross reg) consolidated management with expire dates and all. It's really the complete package - for what I need it for.

But... its their hosted app and they get your traffic and all, stuff most domainers dont care about, realistically.

I also started using Folio Trader recently, bought on CodeCanyon and its really good as marketplace - but that is all it does. It's not a domain management tool like Efty. But be clear, Folio Trader is as good of a marketplace as any I have seen - much better than most really/

e.g. I put all my names in Efty - selling or not - you wouldn't do that in Folio, I dont think anyway.

But here is my site with FolioTrader: Rareium.com - like I said, just started working with it, SSL and all updates shortly. It's a good product if you dont need everything Efty has to offer.

Feel free to shoot me any questions, happy to help.

Brian

Efty is by far my favorite option.

Every platform I have looked at does NOT support SSL and https on ppc and landing pages. I have asked places like Uniregistry on why page says Not Secure and has the Open Padlock and they tell me it would cost far too much money to make them https compliant and they have no plans to do it in the future.

It's a big negative since some page visitors (maybe a lot) will quickly exit the page after becoming worried about the non-secure status thus reducing your sale inquiries and ppc revenue, possibly significantly and worse as time goes by.

Good luck with the site!

Mobile look could be better )

And you chose to promote emoji names before .com domains

Any reason?

And you might want to fix this

Key + Solution = Keyloution

I could not find Folio Trader on CodeCanyon or ThemeForest.

I just spent $60 USD purchased both FolioTrader and Dndork.
I would say Efty better than both of them in term of functions.

Main problems
FolioTrader - not user friendly for bulk import.
Dndork - The bulk import is fine but it's really painful to change the setting one by one for 100+ domains.

--------------------------

Efty is easy to use, just a few click and it's all set. But it's expensive if you want to have a white label website.

Dndork
The license cost $24 USD only.

FolioTrader
The license cost $36 USD.

DNDork Looks the best imo

The FolioTrader's landing page will redirect to main domain while Dndork's landing page will stay on the same domain. Both of the setting and fixed and they don't provided you an option to make any change.

FolioTrader landing page Demo:
http://DomainProfolios.com

- It will automatic redirect all parking domains to my main domain with HTTPS. (by simple bulk editing two NS records for my domains in registrar )
- HTTPS make buyer feel confident but domain redirection may make them feel uncomfortable.

DNDork landing page Demo
http://DomainProfolio.com

- Parking page remained on the same domain.
- NO HTTPS with parking domains (by simple bulk editing two NS records for my domains in registrar )
- Although I can get my FREE SSL for all my domains with CloudFlare but it will take a lot of time to setup them one by one.

It's hard to determined which one is better. :banghead:
