Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

https://www.pressherald.com/2017/01...w-legal-in-maine-heres-what-you-need-to-know/

Despite approval on 2016 ballot measures the market doesn't expect to see a recreational policy in place until 2019 or 2020.

Maine has " social clubs ". Where they are in the permitting process who knows. But here is a substantive validated legal market for Cafe domains. Once these ideas spread one may see this trend continue.

The article goes into " craft " growers. This is where I see the real potential and demand for real volumes of domains and competitive both growing qualities and branding needed to garnish $20 + a gram on retail. Think bar ( rack ) whiskey vs. Crown Royal ; or Oban

I don't follow California as a rule, being midwest and northeast person. Plus one draws a line on time. But I believe theirs many counties going with craft or micro provisions. Folks how large? LA county is projected to have more canna sales than the entire state of Colorado.

Wow! What a rip-off! The shops in Vancouver charge between $8-$10 a gram for weed.... if shops in The Lower 49 charge $20 a gram, nobody’s going to show up there! They’ll still go to their local dealer... imo.

Also, another thing I’ve been thinking a lot about is here in Canada you are not allowed to smoke anything in public. Not even cigarettes. They are banned from restaurants, bars, casino’s, parks, beaches, and any other public place you can think of ..... even though cannabis will be legal nationwide as of October 17, I cannot see any cafés legally opening up here unless the smoking by laws are changed

gotta keep the streets alive homie.
if your a local supplier and have shops like this set up in yo city or town , its actually good for the local dog. as long as your selling the fire you can do well. No one wants to pay some of these prices these shops are demanding. highway robbery
The money game of legal Cannabis....... one day they will figure it out.

Move to Ontario

"
The government has proposed legislation that, if passed, would provide the following rules for using cannabis, both medical and recreational.

Where you could smoke and vape cannabis*
  • Private residences – this does not include residences that are also workplaces (e.g. long-term care and/or retirement homes)
  • Many outdoor public places (e.g. sidewalks, parks)
  • Designated guest rooms in hotels, motels and inns
  • Residential vehicles and boats that meet certain criteria (e.g. have permanent sleeping accommodations and cooking facilities, and are parked or anchored)
  • Scientific research and testing facilities (if the cannabis use is for scientific research and testing purposes)
  • Controlled areas in:
    • long-term care homes
    • certain retirement homes
    • residential hospices
    • provincially-funded supportive housing
    • designated psychiatric facilities or veterans’ facilities
*Additional restrictions on smoking and vaping may exist in municipal bylaws, lease agreements, and the policies of employers and property owners."

I think their is a future with the cafe and diner names, although it may not be legal to smoke in public in Canada.

I would think cafes and diners could acquire a license so that people can smoke in their pot diner or cafe, probably even bring your own smoke and enjoy the festivities would be super cool.

I could see a pot cafe or diner offering activities within the establishment, like bingo as a raw example, shit like that, and it would be big revenue for the owners of the cafes and diners IMO

Absolutely! And here in BC there are several like that already that have been operating for seven or eight or maybe even 10 years now, but they are still considered illegal

Stock investors are taking a big gamble..."
Shares in the Canadian restaurant operator rose as much as 31 per cent before closing up 28.73 per cent at $3.54 on Thursday after it announced that it has signed an agreement with marijuana clinic operator National Access Cannabis to develop and operate a network of recreational pot stores.

However, neither currently has a licence to sell marijuana, so the deal is contingent on approval from the government, as well as from franchisees and landlords."

I, also took a gamble with 420Java.ca

we are taking a gamble buying cannabis/hemp/420 and ect names IMO, but i look at it this way, millions upon millions of people buy $8 worth of lottery tickets per day, they lose and have nothing to show. they throw the losing ticket in the trash, we, on the other hand have some very cool domain names to show for our money, win , lose or draw, these names are worth the risk.

All the names in this niche are running very thin on the hand reg side, so i expect sales to begin before to long. this should get exciting here pretty soon

"It will take $8 million to $10 million to start up a medical marijuana business spanning two counties, according to estimates from a Portage couple that has plans progressing in both locations.
James Brayton, 47, and Kimm Owsiany, 35, said they are are planning to invest their own money to establish two separate grow operations. "
