.tv Cambridge TV sold

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Just sold the name Cambridge.TV via SEDO for $3600

Not the world's biggest sale, but nice anyway.

Buying organisation based in UK but seemingly run by interests from Asia

.TV is certainly the rollercoaster of all extensions and I hope everyone who holds .TV is enjoying the ride.

.tv is hit, and miss, and a lot of luck, I wouldn’t encourage newbies to chase it.

Very nice. I just reg'd a few TV expires that look somewhat promising:

Kegs.tv
Cliche.tv
Nutters.tv
Comedic.tv
$26 each at namesilo. Gonna hold for one year and see if someone bites. :-P

Holding time?

Seven years and I would have continued for many years longer.

I agree with wwwweb that .TV is probably not for newbies. After many years of owning .tv names I think it is still hard to get a handle on what will be a winner, but there are pointers from those with real experience if your read through the TV threads.

Looking at the list of names people acquire and post here at NP

https://www.namepros.com/threads/your-latest-tv-registration-or-acquisition.823576/

I sometimes see what people have bought and squirm for them - especially if they are new to the business, they are young and want to make a quick buck, or have families.

I will not mention names because as we all know sometimes even the most bizarre names will sell, but a lot of what I see makes me understand the value of a domain apprenticeship and experience - especially in niche areas.

Back in the day, many many years ago, and long before I sold names like Music.tv US.tv Canada.tv and hundreds of others, I seriously saw too much positive in every name. Looking at my first foray in .tv I actually bought names like funnier.tv lefthanded.tv phrasebook.tv quoted.tv wished.tv boils.tv hobs.tv candlestick.tv moths.tv moggie.tv oldshows.tv etc

They were flops and are still freely available right now with good reason.

It didn't take long to work out some valuable lessons, the most important being:

It is far better to bide your time and buy one great name and register it for ten years than to quickly buy ten names for one year and hope one will come good.

If you do have an interest in .tv - great - but please understand that what works for .com doesn't always apply for .tv

Hard graft, good research and smooth success to you all...

Congrats on the sale.

I found the underlying reason why we saw a drop in .tv sales since 2017. It is because keyword .tv domains will no longer showed up on Sedo search. If you lookup the .tv sales records, you will found most of the high price .tv domains are sold via sedo.com

Here is what happening. I have wallets.tv listed on sedo but the potential buyers will not able to find my domain when they simple search 'wallets' in sedo. The only way they can find my domain is to searching full domain 'wallets.tv' in Sedo.

More details in the following thread.

Weird. I have a .tv domain listed on Sedo and I see it on the search results without the .tv

You can find your .tv domains in sedo search when they're not with a popular keyword.

My example
sharing.tv
secondary.tv
softwares.tv

If you have some popular keyword .tv domains. You will found all of them will not showed up in sedo search. :dead:
