I have listed 7 domains on GoDaddy auctions without using their addon listing features.

I am wondering what suggestions anyone might offer about where to mention the domains to get the eye of good domaining customers, and perhaps startups.

I have felt burned in the past with other domains for which I piled on fees on Sedo and Flippa and saw only enough back to barely cover it. Of course it may depend 100% on the quality of the name, but I'm not sure. Do these customers who pay thousands really spend all day sifting through the 'promoted' lists at auction sites? Do they really read 'network affiliate' displays that Afternic offers? Or are they all scrupulously cultivated with personal marketing by fulltime pros?

Additionally, I am not sure if listing the domains in the for sale section on namepros is appropriate for auctions.

Finally, I've noticed that there are some thought leaders who mention good bets in blogs domainers read. Is buying placements on an auction site important to become visible to getting talked about?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Good questions, have wondered the same myself, having struggled to get sales at GD auctions then seeing some of the crap that does sell for decent money!

Look forward to the responses.

Thanks. When I follow the advertising opportunities link I see an empty discussion group. Is this group blocked for my membership level?

I am also looking for advice about strategies outside of namepros. There are lots of places offering to sell advertising. And various venues where good sales seem to happen. But what understanding is there of what is the most important for reaching suitable customers?

Is it 'widest reach will be most likely to find someone with an itch for the domain'? Is it having a site with traffic? Is it 'stick to the sites where other sales have happened'? And if you do, how much does their advertising package really matter?

I've had the best success with reaching out to end users directly. Find companies that may benefit from a name and look like they're making money. Cold email many, hear back from few, get offers from even fewer.

You can create a thread in it to discuss advertising options; it's private so that only you will see the threads you start.

Here is an example of a marketing display you can pay for by the day:

https://namebio.com/featured-listings

Namebio seems like a great site to have exposure, but are any of these rotating banners worth anything to push auctions along? Perhaps any suggested best options?
