I just bid 1$ on something and I then edited it within 10 seconds just to include the original quote of sellers post... cause sometimes I had bad experiences with sellers changing terms after bids are made etc..

the point is.. even though I edited my post.. I do not see it with the usual "edited on" stamp.

does this mean if we edit posts within X seconds then they do not show as "edited"? if so, how many seconds exactly is this... and are you not concerned this can be misused by people changing their bids or even changing SOLD AT BIN posts into something else .. for bin listings

so people can change bids or modify their sold bin posts for 60secs?

i thought its illegal to do those things here

Members have been able to change their bids, modify posts, fix errors, etc; for the first 30 minutes for quite a while now. It just doesn't track any changes during the first 60 seconds. Not a big deal...IMO.

yes I know
as per my top post, I wasn't talking about those edits which do show the "edit" stamp... but those that do not show it.

as for not a big deal not to track bid changes or sold bin edits during first 60 seconds.. its a tremedous deal.. that contradicts all namepros rules of "not allowing to change bids"... or change mind about posting sold at bin.

I think namepros should ensure this 60 sec edit is disabled for marketplace... @Eric Lyon

cheers

p.s. I think you are unaware of the fact that it is illegal on np to modify bids.. even if the ability to do so (editing posts) exists. I am not sure from your post above if you are saying it is legal.. just because it was possible.

just thought I'd mention it so others avoid confusions as to legality of changing bids on np. some people may infer from your post that changing bids on np is allowed.

cheers.

On the contrary, I'm well aware of the NP rules, and have been during my decade on this forum. However, I tend to assume positive intent, meaning folks who bid actually keep those bids and honor those bids.

You act as if there is a rampant problem of fraudulent bidding going on, which is similar to calling your fellow NP'rs a bunch of fraudsters. However, you offer no proof of this alleged fraud bidding.

Fact is, there's nothing illegal happening. You're trying to create a mountain out of a molehill with another sky is falling type of hype and whining. Someone posting as much as you and editing as much as you surely isn't just now noticing edits aren't tracked in the first 60 seconds.

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it so others avoid confusions as to the severity of your accusations that there is fraudulent bidding being allowed on NP. Some people may infer from your post that fraudulent bids on np is allowed.

cheers

imo its always best not to provide tools and opportunities to commit fraud. whether there are 5 or 5million dishonest np members.

There are always opportunities for people to do wrong, whether this forum, the Internet, or everyday life in the real world. However, most people do right, and are decent, hard working, honest, and forthright.

Your claims of fraud bidding on NP, and dishonest members, are misleading, unfounded, and potentially damaging; sending the wrong message to both members, and nonmembers. You should be required to provide proof and substantiate such claims. Doing so may help you reach your desired change...IMO.

The ability to edit out a typo within 60 sec make the final posted bid stronger to enforce. (you had your chance)

Please keep in mind that "Last edited" has no affect on the rules, and we haven't come across a situation where someone took advantage of this 60 second window in a malice fashion. 60 seconds is enough time to correct a mistake (e.g., a typo if someone types $500 when the next bid is actually $50), but it's not typically enough time to disrupt an auction or cause any serious issues. If it was abused, members would notice it and report it to us, and then we would take the appropriate actions.

We will continue to monitor this thread to decide whether we should change it.

If it helps, bidders can always quote the bid that they're bidding up/against; that way, if it is changed, it'll still be quoted at its initial value.

I had a couple of posts this morning where I had no edit at all, very strange.
