Hello Folks,

I am looking to sell an aged .com domain soon. However, the contact address details have not been updated for 10 years. Only the contact address has changed, not the owner or email address etc.

Therefore:

1) Am I required to update the contact details address before a sale? Will I have to wait 60 days before I can sell it (will I be subject to an Icann 60 day 'change of registration' lock, even though only the contact address has changed, not the registrant)?

2) Would it be better/quicker to just sell it without updating the contact details address (is this possible / will it matter)?

Thanks for any input in advance.

PJ

Can anyone with selling experience, help out on this query?

Have I posted it in the right place on this forum?

Thanks.

2) There is no need to update the contact details.

1) Even If you do there will be registrar lock of 60 days. but you can still transfer to clients account within the same registrar. Need not wait for 60 days.

Thanks for your quick reply. It is unlikely that the purchaser of the domain with be with the same registrar (registered with a UK based registrar, not big popular US registrar).

technically you should be updating all your whois info with your correct contact info according to icann. However in a pinch you can sell without updating details...I have a sold a bunch of domains where the new owner still have my who contact info on the name or worse the previous contact info before me

New account is free with all registrars. Your buyer can register 1 easily.
