I am still learning how to flip domains for a profit.

How can I choose good ones that aren't too pricey and sell them quite fast?

You're gonna have to read a lot here. Knowing what makes a domain worth buying to flip requires understanding the market, which can't be taught to you in a few messages.

Welcome to NamePros, scottmce. I think we all hope for quick sales and high profit when we start, but we soon find out that domain selling is generally a slow process. Fortunately, there's a wealth of helpful information here on NP. This would be a good place to start: https://www.namepros.com/threads/popular-beginner-discussions.844937/
Good luck!

Welcome...yes, as the other said, it is not something that can be done quickly or easily. It can be done but requires a lot of reading and learning. The threads here are full of info so open word and/or get a tablet and pen out and start the process...best wishes!

Thanks for the replies so far. I have been doing some reading and there is a lot to learn and take in. I know it's not an overnight thing and I will do some more research and hopefully I can be successful with it.

Welcome to NPs @scottmce and I hope that your time in domain investing is interesting, fun and profitable!

Others have offered good advice. The main points I would stress:
  • Invest in what you know (ie topics you understand fairly well)
  • Use NameBio (a lot!) to try to find comparable past sales, but do note the date of the sale too. Use the Start With and Ends With feature when considering compound names.
  • For new extensions, if you invest in them, pay most attention to the match between the word and the extension (and quality of word of course)
  • Start slowly, only acquiring a few names at first.
  • Get those names properly listed with attractive landers prior to letting yourself get any more.
  • Be realistic. The median price even in com is typically under $500. Yes, sometimes huge prices, but most not. Also probably even with sound names in com/net/org no more than 1 in 75 to 150 will sell in any one year.
  • Being profitable in this business requires hard work, not guaranteed, but it will be helped by being educated, logical and quantitative in your analysis, and organized.
With best wishes for success. NPs is an amazing community of people with a collective huge amount of expertise and eager to share and help!

Hello @scottmce .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

You've been given some great advice above so far. Definitely take your time to learn as much information as possible before jumping too far in. There is no easy quick way to make mountains of money in domaining. In fact most people lose money in the domain business .. particularly newcomers.

In addition to everything mentioned by others above I suggest checking out the blogs and podcasts.

Another way to help get your feet wet would be to check out the various lists people make each day like my own (links in my signature), then write down what you think are the best ones. Then track what happens to those domains at auction to see what price they sold for to see if other domainers also thought they were valuable.

Best of luck to you going forward! :)

Why don't you try the Domainer Elite that you are trying to sell? Gotta stand behind your products right?

What is that ? is it another upgrade in here? I spent hours listening to Youtube videos today seems like I heard that come up. Its funny how I was doing this stuff a bit like 8 years ago and kind of forgot about it gave up and now learning its still quite viable I let myself get discouraged trying to do the 2 jobs and get traction but the old saying better late than never.

Lessons learned by the way I used to have like 50 or more domains and as others have said just do a few at a time. I learned a ton today and I used to have some small wins but it was years ago. I smack myself on the forehead now knowing what I have learned and joined VIP today. I had some killer domain names in the past. With the new privacy laws its a bit more challenging now because a few years back I purposely never used privacy on new domain reg so people could find me and call me and make offers.
I listened to a guy today saying look get on the phone make some calls to businesses that might want your domain and promote the heck out of it. Which to me is very solid advice.

Even for a solid .com name, odds of a sale in any given year is something order of 1 chance in 100..
There is no QuickEasyMoney! :xf.wink:
