@namesilo
I transferred couple .ca to you other day. I like using you bin landing pages pages. However the price displayed shows no currency. Is it possible you to put USD beside bin price, or even better give us option of currency to display CAD
I dont want Canadian customer seeing 399 price, then going to check out and it 500+ dollars CAD due to exchange. If they knew was USD then they wont be surprised.

Also, just added some names to link manager, and i always get this error, though all names were added

All valid domains you entered are now in your list.

The following entered domains could not be added to your list:

Thank you for the suggestion! We'll go ahead and push out that feature in the next couple of days - hopefully, it makes it clearer. And pls keep the feedback coming..always useful.

As far as your error, can you e-mail us at [email protected] so we can debug?

Is it permanent or temporary?

It's temporary for now - we are evaluating at the moment because of an uptake in fraud using Bitcoin.

I'm not clear about settings for offering a domain at a fixed price and also make offer with a floor place, or even whether this is supposed to be possible. I set this up for one domain by trial and error, but the same settings for a second domain produce different results - I wonder if different price levels behave differently? Or are results cached and only show up many hours later?

Instructions or examples would be helpful, and it would be preferable if the landing page indicated that offers can be made, not just buying at fixed price - you only find out you can make an offer as well when you click on the buy button and go to the next page.

Steps:
List domain for sale: select Offer/Counter Offer basis
Set Reserve Price: (have input a price, lower than the Buy Now price below)
Show Reserve: select Yes
Allow Bids Under Reserve: select No
Set Buy Now Price: (input price higher than reserve price)

For Domain A, priced at xx,xxx this creates a landing page showing price and buy now button. Clicking the buy button takes you to a nice second page with three columns - buy now, buy on payment plan, or make an offer and it says clearly what the minimum offer is, which is equal to the reserve price set.

For Domain B, priced at xxx, with otherwise identical settings, we get the same landing page, but clicking on the buy button takes us to a second page with only buy now button and buy on payment plan button - no make offer button.

@namesilo if a buyer buys a domain on payment plan, the instructions say they will make automated monthly payments. Can those be be wire?

As far as I can see, payments above 5k have to be by wire, and wire payments of any amount attract the lower commission rate of 3%.

Still waiting to see USD beside the bin prices too namesilo,

I wonder if different price levels behave differently?.

I found this in the instructions on the page for adding a new domain to the marketplace:

https://www.namesilo.com/account_marketplace_sell.php
Button display
There are two different buttons that are available. You can elect which to show:
  • Buy Now
If you have a Buy Now price then that price will be displayed. If you have a Buy Now price and the price is under $5,000 then the button will add the domain to the shopping cart and the buyer can purchase right away. If over $5,000 then the button will link to the main sales page as a wire transfer would be required.
Show Buy Now Button:

required_icon.gif

  • More Info
If selected to show, a button will be available which will link to the main sales page for the domain. For auctions, the button will say "Place a Bid". For offer/counter-offer sales, the button will say "Purchase Options" if the Reserve matches the Buy it Now price, or it will say "Make an Offer" if the Reserve does not match the Buy it Now price, or there is no Reserve or Buy it Now price.

Strangely after you add a domain to the marketplace, the domain settings that appeared on one setup page are now split off into two separate edit pages - took me a while to work that out.

I honestly think some top-level instructions would help - not just notes by each button, but an overview of how to:

1. Add domain for sale on fixed price basis
2. Add domain on make offer only basis
3. Add domain with BIN and make offer option (and how to set/show/hide floor price)

@namesilo i had offer/counter offer action last night with comments. Thank you for approving comments so quickly!
Do you do this manually?
Also, i asked 14 days ago if you could add USD to the bin price on sales landers so Canadian customers know they will pay 30% more than what it shows. That hasn’t happened yet. Any chance it will soon? Undeveloped shows both currencies when i view one of their sales landers. CAD and USD
That would be even better.

Hey, we try to make as much automatic as possible.

In terms of the USD label - its on our list of todo. The list is quite long :)
The problem with requests like this is they affect all marketsites and for now, you are the only one to have requested this. We are thinking about the best way to do this.

We are thinking about the best way to do this
Somewhat more global change may be useful. In some countries currency symbol is normally used before the price ($1000) and in some countries it should be after the price (1000$). Separators are also different in different countries - "5000" vs "5,000" vs "5.000". Adding geoip module together wirh a set of appropriate country-based price display rules will be a good development, and this will instantly close an issue of CAD-USD and related issues such as is it mexican pesos which are also using $ sign... what are MX-based visitors thinking now? We never know.

I guess MX guys got accustomed to that already, seeing this everywhere... Poor karma. US$ is kinda standard, so i think people know quite well that it's better to clarify wherever there is a place for any confusion. But this way, of course, adding some more symbols is always helpful, like CAD, AUD, etc. Speaking from my experience of running multiple e-shops.

@namesilo - Is there a way to navigate to a report showing "pending" pay-ins to be received from buyers for marketplace sales with a payment plan, where the buyer already started the process. Accordingly, at least one of his payments, the initial one, is successful and should be marked as such. Others are expected payments and it would be great to see approx. dates and expected (exact) amounts. This is for all such sales that are in progress.

Why? To have an opportunity to better see "future" income - amounts, approx. dates, and all on one page.
Yes, I understand that those are just expectations and that the buyers may fail to pay quotes on time or at all, but still...

It may well be that such a page already exists, but I did not find it yet ; - ()

@namesilo Your Template 3 has a major issue: It has no validations which means visitors can simply hit submit to send an "offer" (email with just the form titles and no values really).

Another issue I noticed is that for some reason, whenever I edit a listing with no BIN and a min offer that I'd previously set to 99, the form automatically sets a min offer value of $250 and a BIN of $4000 (IIRC). Also the pre-filled password field is quite irritating and unnerving as I'm never sure what that value is and why it is pre-filled. Can you please check these issues and fix them? I am happy to provide more information if you need.

Thanks for the feedback - we've passed along this to our product team to have a think about the best way to deliver it.

We are aware of this validation issue - our team is working on it to find and push a fix.

Hi NamePros - an important announcement:
Unfortunately, due to increased cases of fraud and tax evasion, we will need to phase out Bitcoin as a payout option for marketplace transactions. Any payments currently in the queue will be delivered over the next week. We will continue offering payout options of Wire transfers, PayPal, Alipay, Skrill and Dwolla. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes to our legitimate users.

Why didn't you send email to inform your customers about this important event instead of making a forum post? I can't contact you and am trying to figure out for hours why Bitcon option has been removed. If I didn't search and found your post above, I would never know what happened to Bitcoin.

Why didn't you remove Bitcoin from https://www.namesilo.com/Support/Marketplace ? Don't you think you (namesilo) are misleading the public as if Bitcoin is still payout option.

Why are you still accepting Bitcoin if it's a bad thing? You accept Bitcoin happily but stopped making payouts in Bitcoin. Are you forcing sellers to withdraw to account funds, so you could make profit by more sales volume?

** I will need to phase out Namesilo as a marketplace option to sell my domains if Namesilo will need to remove Bitcoin from payout options. We will see how long you will be part of 1,000,000 Domain Club if you lose your customers for this weird move.

Please bear in mind that Paypal isn't available everywhere and bank wire fees are huge to receive any amount under $1,000. Bitcoin is the only way for millions of people.

Fraud is always a major concern, but tax evasion? Are you an IRS accredited registrar cum tax agent / collector in addition to your ICANN accreditation?:ROFL:

Another terrible loss for @namesilo

They sold sextoken for $90 while in client hold. This was their version of an auction but nobody gets to bid, lol. Now let’s see if it gets renewed in privacy for the kicker, or we see the winning bidders info!

Terrible business plan...

Please understand that removing payment options is always something we do begrudgingly because we never want to restrict ways our customers can work with us. However, when we have to investigate each Bitcoin payment going out to ensure it's not part of a scam or tax evasion case, that payout option becomes simply impossible to offer at scale. Afraid this is one of those cases where the few ruin it for everyone.

As far as your feedback on how we went about to announce this change, e-mail to all our customers didn't make sense because most of our users don't utilize Bitcoin payout methods and we can still accept Bitcoin payments so we decided it would end up creating more confusion than it'd help clear. We have changed it on the Marketplace page - but decided to wait until we processing all the Bitcoin payouts still in the queue, which has since been completed. Apologies again for the inconvenience but if nothing else, hope this provides you some visibility into our reasoning and approach.

Most registrars (us included) are still bound to the laws of the country in which we are incorporated. So yes, we are also part-time tax agents....also part-time crime fighters. =)

Our logic in building the auction this way was so that a user could bid an amount that ensured they would win the auction, even if it wasn't yet over. But we have received a lot of similar feedback from users like yourself that this may not be the best setting so we're re-evaluating our current auction process. Thanks for the feedback.
