Pointless thread. Sounds like he picked up some ngtlds and didn't check the renewals - now he wants to boycott them because he can't afford to renew.

Well, it is interesting how your only threads to date are about ngtld prices and you said:

stop register new gtlds
boycott high renewals!

I mean if you don't own any, it seems odd why you would want to boycott them. If it doesn't affect you, why complain about it ?

I don't see the hype around them either to be honest, bar a few they are not commonly known and don't do great in the SERPs .. where there are sheep there are wolves though so some people will make money but as a long term investment I don't think so

Dear OP,

Please do not be stressed. The market will dictate demand-for both new registrations and aftermarket sales of new gTLD domains, just as it has for .COM, .NET, other gTLDs, and ccTLDs.

Domaining will continue to be profitable and a source of intriguing news. Registration fees and renewal costs of new gTLDs will serve as barriers of entry, influencing rates of adoption and market penetration of relative TLDs, much like they always have. Just as .COM registration and renewal fees influence domain registration rates currently, the same will be applied at scale with new TLD options.

Sleep well, knowing that new gTLDs will not, in fact, bring upon an Internet Apocalypse. Rather, consider new gTLDs as an Internet Renaissance, which may actually be responsible for increased demand of premium domains.

If still, you find the prospect of the new gTLD aftermarket terrifying, rest-assured that participation is not mandatory. You may continue to trade in the traditional gTLDs without facing any penalty. For some, however, embracing the new gTLD aftermarket possibilities will prove to be a profitable venture.

I hope this has brought some peace to you. Happy domaining!

Sincerely,
DomainBox.io

You know.....

For a pointless topic, this thread has sure taken off into a lively discussion. :xf.laugh:

I have a 5 letter exact domain match for a business and the business owns the five letters with .associates.

name.associates

They are trying to get my domain because the email [email protected] is failing miserably for them. It is failing even though the business is actually called

_ _ _ _ _ Associates.

So it's not only the renewal rates but email is playing a part in the difficulties these extensions are experiencing.

I'll drink some liquor tonight for the fools who build businesses in sand castles.

Can you please share the full domain name of that dot associates. You can pm me if you like but I don't see any harm to share it here so folks would have a better understanding of your example.
Also can you share what is the extension of the exact match domain.

They might be willing to buy your domain for brand protection, who knows?

My business e-mail is in a new gTLD and I am doing alright, no problem or whatsoever on customer side.

Doing the same thing right now, sipping my drink and reading this foolish comment, you got no idea what you are talking about.

I have businesses on new gTLDs and I am doing perfectly fine. Even customers reaching from countries that I never heard of before.

This is too silly! There are billion dollar companies on new gTLDs online right now.
This is hilarious.

I'm glad you have positives to say about your own experience.

z.cash does just fine as I'm sure many others do.

Who are the billion $ companies?

Who are the billion $ companies?

Led.Lighting - used by PHILIPS ( billion dollar company )
abc.xyz - Google (I personally do not like this extension, but hey Google owns it :) )

tron.network - another cryptocurrency with a couple of billion dollar market cap... and there are many more with other crypto projects..

We see can see what Philips thinks of this. Alexa ranking 0 and it forwards to a .com subdomain.

abc.xyz was a big deal when it happened. It's not a mainstream site for consumers though, just a resource site for investors. For all the dozens of products and services by Google, any on newg's? Nope.

As to altcoins, sure. It certainly helps usher in an awareness of ngtlds among a decent sized demographic.

The internet is huge. For all the hope and promise of ngtlds, abysmal performance!

This is a forum for domain speculation and investing. You have gurus like @lolwarrior with 0 credibility as preachers to an ignorant out of tune choir.

I think it is not cool to make this thing personal.. We are all domain investors, we might have different preferences on domain names but it doesn't give us the right to judge people and discredit them publicly without even knowing them.

Credibility in domaining starts with being profitable and grows when you have notable accomplishments like 5 and 6 figure sales.

But many are so desperate that someone with 0 credibility earns it from telling them their ngtlds can sell for thousands someday. Sad.

I am pretty sure you know the fact that there are both 5 figure and 6 figure sales with new gTLDs.
Why 0 credibility? Cause he didn't made those sales but he is telling the fact that it is possible..
Come on, you don't have to like new gTLDs. but don't discredit people just because of that.

I see, so it's a bit like a cult or religion then.
