Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here

NameSilo
Watch
I suggest a new thread titled Problems, Bugs and Fixes at Afternic - Report Problems Here. Then we can all list our issues so Afternic have to fix them. These Afternic probs have been repeatedly flagged up across numerous threads on here over a period of time, including the need for 2FA. Godaddy own Afternic and have the resources and motivation to fix it - this risky mess is unacceptable and reflects badly on their brand.

For info, Afternic keep reverting some of my domains to "In Review" status for no reason, and I only know that if I log in there to check on them. Until I then ask support to take them out of Review they are not listed for sale and will not sell at Afternic.

@Joe Styler When can we expect Godaddy to take action on Afternic, including implementing 2FA?

Submitted means we paid. We don't have that money anymore. We sent it to the company we use to make payments to be paid to you. Paid means we have confirmation back from the company we use to make payments that they received confirmation that the money hit your bank account. So what they are saying is we sent the money a couple weeks ago. If the payment fails we see that too. By now we should have seen a fail or paid status. If you email [email protected] with the information and ask them to trace the money since it has been a couple weeks they can get the other company to audit the payment and find out where the money is. Depending on your country and amount of the sale it is not that unusual for a bank to ask for more information around the person who owns the account before they release the money. It is hard to say without running a trace on the funds.

I already had asked them about the payment several times and it has been 2 weeks since you paid so if a customer says that they haven't received payment you should start tracing the funds. There is no need for me to explicitly ask Afternic to trace the money. But I have emailed [email protected] again and hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

BTW [email protected] took 17 days to reply to my email. I forgot I emailed them 11 days after sale regarding proceeds. [email protected] usually take about 3 days. Joe recently told me they had hired additional staff, I guess they need to hire more.

TA is not service they are different teams. TA is only going to email you when some action happens on the sale, buyer pays, you need to move the domain, etc. Service is the correct address for any questions you have.

Right now the visit numbers are useless. Either zero them out or reload a backup.
Since daily views are a rolling 30 day total, if you do not zero them out then the rest of the month is going to be garbage numbers for comparing to last month or looking for trends.

Okay, I get it now, [email protected] is supposed to help me out. They last emailed be 9 days ago and during those 9 days I have emailed them 3 times but received 0 replies. You told me to tell them that they should trace the funds which they should've done themselves but they probably haven't done that even after I told them to. It has been over a month since the domain sold and automatically transferred to buyer. What would you do if you were in my position?

This is terrible Joe, Arca's bank account has been frozen for months, you can't change the domain sale wording to what it should be, so it may happen again to him or others. Haris, is upset and for good reason, your support system is broken. Cant believe your domain portfolio defaults at 10 names still. Domain portfolio i have to scroll to the right to see all the columns
You have fixed nothing, I know, you know, we have to use your service, but your customers aren't happy.
We ask at namesilo marketplace thread for them to do something, and they do it. Arca has some pretty weird requests, but they comply 7.5% I got paid for my sale long before Haris, but he made his sale long before mine. And he pays almost 3x in commission.:xf.eek:

It depends on various factors for how/ when people get paid. We are working on a project to pay people faster but it will not be until early next year but it should significantly improve the payout speed. We also hired more support staff last month, and added a support team in Europe to help with faster turn around time on Afternic and GoDaddy Aftermarket tickets. That was a substantial investment in time and money to help improve the service level. We have some other service level changes coming in the next months that will continue to improve the experience.

If the AN site says the transfer of the domain to the buyer is completed AND "payment disbursement within 7 days" AND the payout to be made is to a confirmed paypal account AND 7 days have passed AND no payment has been received AND emails have been sent asking why (through the AN interface when logged in) AND nobody has responded..... what do we do next ?

You should email [email protected] vs ta@ which is where those emails go. If service you should have an answer in a day or less. If TA it will take longer. You do get an email when we schedule payment. If you send me the domain I can have someone check on the status.

Did you read my last post? I haven't received a reply from [email protected] in 10 days! I emailed them 3 times but no reply.

I finally got a response yesterday that says "payment will be disbursed tomorrow" to my paypal account, so now it's today, it's almost 2pm on the east coast and nothing so far, so we will see.

It really needs to be easier than this.

I would like to suggest that Afternic have a reporting form specifically for reporting domain names that are listed for sale but where the lister does not currently, or perhaps ever, have ownership of the domain name.

Another way to do this would be to allow contact with the domain seller without making an offer.

Just a thought - I could not find a way to do it other than log in to my account and submit a feedback from, but really it should be possible to more directly do it in a way non-account holders could post and that routed only that kind of flag (for sale but not owner).

I presume most cases are oversights, but potentially it is dangerous to have domains listed by those who do not really own them.

@Joe Styler (my apologies if this is currently possible and I did just not see how to do it - BTW thank you for the incredibly responsive way you interact with NPs members here!)

LOL, I just got this:

"James,

We have completed the transfer of xxxxxx.com. You will receive an email within 1-3 business days to notify you when your payment has been sent to you.

Please note if your payment method is "Payment by Check " then it may take up to 7 business days to be mailed to you."

Of course I was already told the transfer completed over 7 days ago.

Come on, there really is no reason one person has to make this much effort to collect on one tiny payment.

Why did I get this email yesterday from Afternic Transaction Assurance <[email protected]>?:

"Hello,

Your funds will be released tomorrow.

Thanks,
Rebecca"

This just should not happen at all. I feel sorry for people who don't put in as much effort as I did. This sale happened on 08/28, it should not still be hung up like this.

@Joe Styler I asked for a SWIFT copy on 2nd September and the next day [email protected] replied that they reached out to TA so they can acquire the SWIFT copy but after that they still haven't replied.

I need the SWIFT copy to ask my bank to track this transaction because you guys are not doing it. I have asked for the SWIFT copies for previous transactions too when the funds were delayed but I have never been given those. Look into this ASAP!

Afternic is great sales channel, but something has to be done with the way of managing domain transactions. Maybe hiring even more staff & adding more automation etc. Things seem to get a bit worse now.

I had few delayed transactions that were closed only after I contacted support.

Now I have to monitor all my Afternic transactions on regular basis to look for delayed ones. It is very inconvenient.

Recently one domain registered at Namesilo was sold through Afternic DLS, yet the domain had "transfer processing" status for a while despite it was DLS transfer enabled, so I had to contact support. No response from support which is no surprise, but couple days later I got email from Namesilo saying the transfer will be complete on Sept 12. Then I received another email from Namesilo saying the transfer will be complete on Sept 17. Such a feeling that Afternic DLS fast transfer is not always fast and not automated much. Has anyone at Namesilo to manually check and approve Afternic transfer requests or anyone at Afternic manually send transfer requests to Namesilo even in case of DLS fast transfer enabled?

Another strange observation. Once I discovered a domain that was listed as pending sale. Few days later I got a message from Namesilo asking to confirm Afternic DLS fast transfer for this domain which I did, after that domain was no longer pending sale, and I was told by support that they didn't see it pending sale either.

Okay so 37 days and many emails after the domain sold and transferred out to Afternic, I have been told by [email protected] that:

Our payment processor replied and said that your payee "is under Compliance review. Additional documents were requested from the payee. Once those documents are submitted and good the payee will be cleared of compliance and the payment should go through." Please look at your spam/junk folder for an email from Tipalti to clear your payee.

I have been receiving payments from AfterNic in the same bank account for almost 2 years but now I am under review, alright no problem I can provide any documents required, but I daily check my spam folder and I never received any email from AfterNic or Tipalti requesting any documents. So Tipalti is probably lying. But what took AfterNic so long? Is Tipalti's support team worse than AfterNic's? Couldn't this has been found out earlier?

Sounds like where you receive funds is under review.
I have taken all my names and moved them from listed to hidden until you rectify something @Joe Styler
Arca's issue with bank, thats pathetic Joe. To complicated to change a few words?
Now Haris been waiting 37 days? I don't even want to sell a name through afternic at this point,
Nothing illegal or immoral, I encourage everyone to go to their afternic control panel and 50 names at a time, change them all to hidden status. Even for a day, everything resets at midnight eastern time zone
Note* the ones pending review did not change to hidden

I searched dancin/gleopard at domaintools, link goes to sedo sale page. That is one changed hands @Haris
It goes to your efty lander still

Afternic having problems still?

I have at least 1 email from August still not answered or dealt with. Now that name is stuck in limbo.

And a few more from this month still zero answers, replies or help.

Sales completed on GD and AN with no payouts for September sales, 1 doesn't even have a date of payout listed yet.

Names not updating with spreadsheet on AN, so my names still have old prices and I will have to either delete them all again or painfully go thru each page of 10 to do it manually 1 by 1.

:rage:

Following up on my current domain sales issue. They sent me a message on Friday saying payment is coming September 16th (after they emailed me Wednesday (12th) saying payment was coming Thursday (13th)).

Even the AN control panel says it was to be paid TODAY. But still NO payment.

Someone from AN emailed me today, thank you, but still no payment. I was told "Sometimes it takes a few days to get to your bank", but this is PayPal, which is instant, not 2-3 days.

Just seems like a lot of work. I have bills to pay, domaining is a big part of my income, even if $1650 is nothing to other people. I just wish we didnt have to jump through hoops to get paid.... :xf.frown:

Ended up having to delete all my names manually because they wouldn't update. Hopefully I'll get my Sept. sales payments soon, shouldn't have to wait 20 years for my money.

Another day lost. Still no payment. Still no response from TA Afternic.

Maybe they are having a financial problem ? It would be sad if they are dragging this out because they dont have the money to keep running and pay sellers.

@NYJimbo really sorry to hear what you've been through. This is disgusting and disrespectful, no domain seller should be treated like that by Afternic, GoDaddy or any other marketplace.

I'm pretty sure they don't have any financial problems, they just sit on money to get interest out of it. Imagine how many transactions Afternic does every day, its definitely seven figures monthly. Now think how much interest they get out of a seven figures amount if they keep the money in their bank account for a month or longer.

Unfortunately yours is not just an isolated incident, lots of other sellers had to wait over a month to receive their money, sad that people are treated like that.

I see today I finally got my payment. Now I have to see how the next one goes as that domain appears to be in transfer now.
