Has anyone ever discovered a domain with a problem like this. I have one which hasn't been developed only ever redirected and have told at registry level it is locked. Do these things go on for years what sort of problem do I have? I surely can't speed it up so what sort of wait do these things go on for? Domain is at godaddy.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The only time I've ever heard of a domain getting locked by its registry was a name that was fraudulently registered in the sunrise period of that extension. A bunch of people made a big deal about it and reported it. This was over 15 years ago and the domain is still locked even though the registration expired well over 10 years ago.

Not at all saying this is what is going on with your name, its just the only example I can think of.

who is the registry for your domain extension?

Is it redirected simply to a parking/landing page, or does it go to some other website, and that website possibly was the issue?

Is there no hint as to the problem from whoever told you that it was locked?

Is there some chance there is a TM issue that you never thought of?

TM perhaps but it is as generic as it comes it also has to do with domain industry.

I have one exactly like that. It's involved in a multi-domain law suite. Which should have finished years ago. But I think GoDaddy will want all the unpaid registration fees, if I try to get it released.

Do you mind sharing the name?

^ not at all

it is RealEstate.Info

and actually, oddly enough, today I stumbled on another name that has a server hold on it even though it actually expired over a year and a half ago. PlaceYour.Bet - which is also an Afilias domain.
