Buyer: Hi! I was wondering if you would like to sell your domain. Price? Thank you for your consideration. - A.J.

2:50 pm
Me: Hi AJ! This is something I have considered over the years. I assume you have an offer in mind?

4:00 pm
Buyer (AJ): Hi, I am not interested. Thanks for your reply.

:xf.rolleyes:

Gave me the lol's, hope you enjoy.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I guess they were either messing with you or they lost interest very quickly...
Or they don't want to make an offer.
I have had multiple inquiries from the same person for one of my names over the last few years and they don't respond once I ask them to make an offer.

The worst people are the one's who have made me an offer of $1,000 to $3,500 on a name that I accepted and then they tell me they are not interested or don't even reply back! >:(

What i see if i were the buyer
That your answer as seller is like please buy it sort of response.
It is just my way of thinking:xf.smile:
Hope you find the right buyer soon.

I feel like if someone asks for a price you should give them one.

I had a recent inquiry for a domain where the buyer managed to find my email address and asks if the domain is for sale and if so for now much. Well, i have you bothered to check the landing page for this domain which shows my asking price? Have you searched for this domain in any major U.S. Registrar and noticed the asking price there? It is pretty obvious from that approach that the inquirer is not a serious buyer and is just looking for a bargain acquisition - in this case a one - word .com. I did not respond.

In my opinion, they were considering to offer $100 or $200 for the domain.

Your “This is something I have considered over the years” scared them, because they assume what’s coming in terms of price.

“Over the years” tells them you are ready to ask for at least a few thousand dollars.

In addition, you are asking them to make an offer, which increases the uncertainty of not knowing what you want. You should put a price tag on your own product.

I have to admit your wording of

Me: Hi AJ! This is something I have considered over the years

reads to me, As Something I have been trying to sell over the years.

I personally wouldn't 'Flannel' a response, name it and be done

Their change of mind made me think of this negotiation over the sale of a caravan(trailer)..

I'm not a service, if they want my property they can make an offer.

Most serious buyer would have continued the conversation and made an offer to get the price.

Unsolicited inquiries typically come with offers, if they aren't prepared to make an offer then they aren't worth your time.

Not sure I agree with any of that.

HA! Dont know which is worse - the never hear from them again after asking for their offer OR this sort of reply. Either way, definitely a SMH! :) Let us know if you decide to pursue anyway or if they eventually come back at you..

For sure, it feels like he deployed "Walking away"; an old-school negotiation strategy to attempt to get power back during a negotiation.

The tell here for me was the response, and the politeness of it.

For them the key is to be able to walk away on good terms, yet let me know they are making an exit.

I think they didn't make an offer for a reason; the hopes that I come crawling back with a price that they can drive down... so it's time to just deploy silence and delete the eMails and save them as text archives.

I'm pretty sure this guy is working as a 3rd party for the real interested buyers.

My domain is similar to "Blimpos" and there is a company that is using "MyBlimpos". Since I use tracking on my landers I saw that several MyBlimpos people came to the page within the same hour of "AJ" who sent the eMail.

Time will tell...
