  • token sold for $21,275 in .tv
That sounds correct when you factor in brokerage fees but where did you see the sale reported? I sold it so I’m curious...

Cool. I’ve never bothered to think what would be considered the final sales price. Is it the sellers net or what the buyer paid all in with fees?

While big sales garner a bit of discussion, one has to be careful about reading too much into them. Median sales and their frequency of occurrence in an extension by type (one-word or LLL or NNN etc) are better indicators of future prospects than placing any significance to an outlier sale where one could even question the logic of the buyer (seller won the lottery).

Within any profession (medicine, law, IT, engineering, accounting, sales, etc) there will be those who earn well above the median of those in their field. Just because the CFO of Google makes $xxxxxx does not mean I can expect similar compensation. However I can look at salary surveys for those with similar titles to gauge what might be reasonable (even then most open positions seem to pay below those averages).

Token is a nice keyword for a crypto site. .XYZ imo is one of the worst choices one can make to brand a business.

I never really considered it either, but when I have reported my sales it is always what the buyer paid, not the smaller net amount I receive after commissions. For tax purposes I report sales that way, but put the commissions on an expenses line.

I actually could see an argument for doing it either way. I know on NPs people sometimes give both figures, at least approximately. I have always presumed NameBio give the sale price (e.g. the BIN price or final auction price), not deducting commissions nor broker fees, and also not adding any transaction related additional fees the buyer might have, and seemed to here. With either figure you had a great sale!

What is interesting is whois shows Wang Shuai as registerer, who is the VC of Alibaba.

That is indeed interesting! (the name is fairly common -- are you relatively sure it is that one? There are a few others related to cyber security and IT generally, for example, but probably not that would buy a $15k domain but who knows)

If it is, I see that his portfolio at Bloomberg here. It says he is VP has been there since rather young it seems and "has responsibility for Alibaba Group's marketing and public relations operations." Will be interesting to see what they do with the name. With almost 47% of .xyz registrations in China, it does make sense.

Thanks for information!

I am not 100% sure but it looks like it and makes perfect sense to me.

The only thing I am questioning is if they could have picked up a better gTLD than .xyz that would make more sense with the extension.

I love new gTLDs but .xyz or .top kind of extensions doesn't make sense to me. They say Chinese like and use these type of domains but never understood the logic behind it. Not even sure if its a valid point, that Chinese likes .xyz or its made up to create hype around this extension. Looks reasonable to me when I see their number of regs...

I sold token.tv for $18,500 so it’s not far fetched. Token is superior to coin imo and should be valued accordingly.
I have dubai.xyz and i am sure that this domain will sold next few years xx.xxx.xxx
I am not accepting any offer under this .
I am crazy i know
But i am sure it will be sold for high price
Wait for my update.....:)
