I've also had an issue with DD where they put in a false backorder for me (Some random LLNN.net domain) which I never even backorder for!

If you don't mind,
I think it's better to collect and list all the problems here as a caution for newcomers.

I already added the problem I had... Or do you mean you want me to delete my post?

Yes : that 5 day rule is awful.
But much ore awful is the 10 $ LATE RENEWAL FEE (30 days after expiration - 40) they charge extra. I find this much too high.
This should be much lower IMO : 3 USD or so.

https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/how-to-proxy-bid

We use proxy bidding for our Expired Domain Auctions and Backorders (if they go to auction). Here is how it works:

Say for example, a domain is in auction with a starting bid price of $12.99.

If bidder A places a bid of $20.00 for the domain, our system will start his bid at $12.99 and bid up to $20.00 automatically on his behalf.

When bidder B visits the auction, he sees the current bid price as $12.99. If bidder B decides to place a bid for $14.00, he will be outbid immediately by bidder A, and the new minimum bid will be $15.00. In order to outbid the first bidder, he would need to bid at least $20.01.

If bidder B places a bid for $20.00, which matches bidder A's maximum bid amount, then bidder A would still be the high bidder, but the new minimum bid would be $21.00.

Please please do not put an proxy bid in Dynadot auction.
I have a lot to say based my own experiences.

When Dynadot introduced the 1 minute ending time extension in auction,
I won lots of auction just 1 USD below my proxy bids.

So I contacted the support,
I was told nothing wrong.

The I intentionally put some proxy bids such as $50.88, $60.88,..
guess what,
I won those auction at $49.88, $59.88.

Then I contacted the support again,
I was told nothing wrong again.

I am saying Dynadot intentionally practiced such things,
I would like to believe these were caused by bugs when they updated auction ending time extension.
But when I contacted the support,
they said all were good.

I know these are hard to believe ,
but dynadot can check my chat records with the support.

Does any Dynadot customer has experiences on what will happen if the winner in a Dynadot market auction with the highest bid do not pay?

From my own experience,

The second high bidder will be offered the opportunity to get the domain at the second high bid, not at the second high bid excluding the bids popped up the non paying winner.

Really questionable.

If you could not follow the rules, maybe you need to update the rules.
Dynadot May 25 2017 6:46pm
Sorry for the inconvenience. I think the order will be completed within one or two days so hope your patience.
Customer May 25 2017 6:47pm
This is the second time you break the 20 days rule, last time it took your 34 days to pay for xxxxxx.com.
Dynadot May 25 2017 6:48pm
I will forward this case to our engineer team. And if we still could not keep the rule, we would like to change the
page per your request.

One year passed, no changs as promised,

It's funny to see how people are obsessed with different registrars. One guy here is obsessed with Namesilo and posts lots of nonsense about them. You are obsessed with Dynadot. Both are great registrars.

I for once don't like Godaddy. But i just don't use them, i vote with my feet, i don't go posting dozens of posts about how evil they are.

Dynadot was a great registrar,
it is still a good registrar now in my opinion.

If it could admit and correct it's recent mistakes,
it will become a great registrar again.

Most of the guys at Dynadot are nice and smart.
But some are not.

Dynadot, NameSilo and Godaddy are the only 3 registrars I would like to trust and put my thousands of domains there.

If there will be no competitions,
Guess what will happen to NameSilo?

https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/late-renewal-fee

What is this $10 late-renewal fee?

Most top-level domains (TLDs) have a grace renewal period. This period is typically up to 40 days and it allows the registrant the chance to renew their domain even after it has expired. During the last 10 days of this renewal grace period, Dynadot charges a $10 late-renewal fee.

For example, if you own a .COM domain that expired on January 1, 2017, you would have been able to renew your domain at the regular renewal price until January 30, 2017. After this date and until the domain was deleted on February 9, 2017, you would have been charged a $10 late-renewal fee, so your total renewal cost would be $20.99 ($10 fee + $10.99 regular renewal price).

Following the TLD's grace renewal period, your domain is deleted and put in redemption. During this period, you may still be able to restore your domain, but at a much higher price.

NOTE: Please keep in mind the renewal grace period is time stamped, meaning if the domain was registered at 11am PST, it will also expire at 11am PST on its expiration date. This means the renewal grace period will end at 11am PST as well.
