BrandPa.com has announced their presence on NamePros...
Hi there! I'm sorry your experience with BB wasn't pleasant :/ If you'd like to try our marketplace please don't hesitate to do so :) We're new in the domaining industry but very eager to learn! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions :) This is us: https://brandpa.com/ (or if you'd like to read about the sellers' rules visit this page: https://brandpa.com/start-selling)

Look forward to hearing from you!
Granted, the above post is from the BrandBucket experience thread, and will likely be deleted for being off topic / wrong thread, it was the first time I heard of them. The founder, @Jowita Emberton, had introduced herself in an earlier thread:

Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

I'm creating this thread to discuss their marketplace, and for those who have experiences with them.

Here's what I know so far:

The founder, @Jowita Emberton, runs two other online businesses according to her LinkedIn page.

Delighten.co.uk - Web / brand design firm.

Weddination.com - Polish wedding services

According to her LinkedIn, she has been operating BrandPa since August 2016. Though, the last cached Archive.org screenshot is a server error on October 4, 2016 HERE

BrandPa.com (2006) is registered to Oliver Emberton, founder and managing director of SilkTide.com.

Currently, there are 562 domains published / listed on BrandPa. It appears most domains listed are handregged by the owners. Not 100% on this; I will run a check when my program is working again.

After reviewing their listings, I found two errors.

upload_2017-2-20_14-26-8.png The domain regged is MonoRaptor.com, but the text reads ManoRaptor.com

upload_2017-2-20_14-27-32.png The domain regged is UnknownVenues.com, but the text reads UnknownVenus.com

At first look:

Pros
  • No Listing Fee
  • FREE Logos
  • Domain Owner sets price ($1,000+)
  • Forwards all offers for sellers consideration
  • Brandpa is a pretty memorable / catchy brandable domain.
  • Select 'On-Sale' marketing section
upload_2017-2-20_14-34-49.png

Cons
  • Low Alexa Ranking (4,557,819)
upload_2017-2-20_14-36-32.png
  • New site. Assuming low organic traffic, and low type-in traffic due to quality and quantity of inventory.
  • Piggy-back branding off BrandBucket in site footer see below
upload_2017-2-20_14-45-31.png

upload_2017-2-20_14-41-42.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-42-20.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-43-14.png upload_2017-2-20_14-43-54.png

  • Reviews are all from .co.uk domains, yet BrandPa doesn't sell any .co.uk domains. A quick glance at other domains owned by the reviewers and I wasn't able to verify any brandable .com's with history tracing back to BrandPa.
upload_2017-2-20_15-10-41.png

Personal thoughts: I respect that they "allow the seller to submit more domain names" by not charging a listing fee. To me this shows they are willing to work for your exclusivity. Should they gain popularity, I wonder if they'll sustain this business model and/or if their logo / listing quality will decrease over time when resources are spread across the masses.

@Jowita Emberton = Feel free to comment / fill in any of the blanks. :penguin:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Turned out I have submitted 50 names only.

Both done on 22.05.
Submitted on 17.05.

WHOIS: 2018-05-22T07:00:00Z
Approval Email: 22/05/2018 16:11

Looks like the reg is earlier, but it is because of the time zones.
Thank you.

I asked on Slack and Jowita said they have to be registered.

As @karmaco mentioned, Jowita responded "registered to be accepted"

So I think what happened with @polymorph 's situation was that you can submit the names unregistered, but the name needs to be registered prior to the review cycle - and that's likely what happened in the @polymorph situation - name submitted and then registered just moments before the review cycle occurred and the (acceptance) email was then sent - which given the time zone difference may have shown up in his/her Inbox at overlapping times..

Either way, Jowita made it clear they are no longer providing an Acceptance stamp on unregistered names.

@BrandCougar
I know it looks and sounds possible, but this is not the case. I think the screenshot will make it clear.

Probably I just got lucky.

BP launching new "Description" tab after Pay for listed, you can categorize your domain to desire business group and put additional keywords. when click "Submit", the underway process jump to step 2 (Editor review)

Pretty sure that "review" is not an instantaneous action but a more prolonged action that includes some amount of research (specifically arou nd potential TM issues, legal violations etc... at a minimum)

Brandpa used to accept unregistered names and they stopped. They do not accept unregistered names at this time. These are all facts and clear. Does it matter how it happened previously (let's say one or more slipped through due to human error/oversight/generosity!)

@Eckhart -

Last I heard, they were at 4,000 back on July 9th.

Prior to that, they were at 3,000 back on May 10th

If they are growing at 100+ new items per week, likely will be at 5,000+ by mid-September is a best efforts forecast..

@Jowita Emberton

Could you elaborate regarding the latest changes? We already write description when submitting. But after the name is approved and paid, that description does not show, but it is expected now to fill categories, type, description etc.

Did you guys conclude that the owners describe better than in-house editors? Will you keep the categories etc. as submitted or still edit those?

Thank you.

I wrote those descriptions and categories for 1 domain, they are edited away. So my guess is that they only help the editors get the basic ideas of categories (a few they would have missed) and USPs. I guess this is the same job for in house description writers which too are edited later by editors.

So submitting your own description will only send it directly to editors queue. Nothing more nothing less.

Theree Updates in my Brandpa account.

1. I got another domain approved for $30,000. Now I have 2 at that price.

2. Total valuation of listed domains is hence easily above $100,000. Portfolio value (displayed in dashboard) is too close.

3. I got a slack invite from Jowita Emberto. Do everyone get it?

Is there anyway to add keywords to a particular domain?

You can only suggest. The Editor may edit them out or add more from his experience. I added only 4 keywords but after the domain was published it had 10 keywords.

After the domain is published, it is possible to change the price, description or keywords by contacting support.

Hey, does anyone know if BrandPa has any referral / affiliate program? Meaning, if we bring a paying customer to the platform and they end up purchasing something, do we get commissions? @Jowita Emberton

@Jowita Emberton / @Oliver Emberton -

@NameWell has a great question - Does Brandpa have a referral/affiliate program?

This would be a terrific way to bring additional business to the site, but also a way for sellers to support your platform - especially if the program provides clear tracking information for transparency.

Could this be added to the Widget tool?
