As we all know the new technologies give us new ideas for domains that will be in demand. So I decided to share this:

  • Academics at Imperial Tech Foresight have created a periodic table of mind-blowing tech.
  • The table is designed to be a visual conversation starter about where the world is going.
  • It features 100 innovations, ranging from the benign and everyday, to the mind-blowing and potentially terrifying.

:!:For some reason, the link to the pdf version of the table does not work on Imperial College London website

:!: So I am attaching a carefully saved version of the file for you, my friends!:-D

P.S. You can also open this file through Web Archive

That is very interesting and seeing into future at same time...

I wonder 100 / Qt is mentioned " we can not talk about this"
Is it pointing at quantum technologies...

Thanks @Name Manager 👌

Thanks for sharing!

My personal favourite has to be number 97 - Space Elevators!

Having read most of Arthur C Clarke's books he has mentioned this concept a few times, especially in The Foundations of Paradise which is about constructing one.

Carbon Nanotube Technology plus a sprinkling of advanced robotics and AI, you never know it might be possible within the next 50 years - not the far distant future......That would be a sight to behold :xf.grin:

Anyway great post!

I read somewhere..
Actually Chinese are planning to make it happen...as a way to reduce the cost of carrying cargo to international space station...and Chinese have their own space station...
It is actually going to happen sooner than we can imagine..
May be in next 20 years...

I had saw this on Twitter but not actually looked into it until your post. Thank you @Name Manager ! It has so many interesting ideas, and the info in side table re companies working in the area really valuable.

Like you say, ideas for domain names that might have future value! What time window do domainers usually take? Like would people register domains today for something that commercialization likely in 10, 20 or 30 years? I do realize the ones in table vary from now to perhaps decades in future.

by the look of it @MetBob there all taken! So up to 50 years :xf.confused:

But the research is ongoing and numerous start up's crop up from Uni, private and corporate research facilities so the names IMO have great value to the owners for the Tech up to 20 years from now, even the far future ones can be developed into news, blogs, research sites etc etc

EDIT:

Tell a lie - the below is available!

Before anyone goes on a registration spree, the products that will be powered by these technologies won’t go by these names above.

The project of the space elevator was developed at one time by the Japanese. What has become of this project I do not know now.

I think that some domainers already have names from this table, perhaps a table will help look at these domains in a new way.
Sometimes it happens that having a registered domain on one topic, it turns into another with time. For example: ICO — file format in the past, now Initial Coin Offering.
This is my example, it is thanks to this that last year I sold one of the domains with IСO abbreviation
