question Which companies still allow a single domain backorder?

Most backorder services accept multiple entries for the same domain and in such cases you obviously have to be part of an auction if they catch the name, which in many cases inflates the domain price beyond your expectations or budget.

There are a few that accept just one backorder per domain. Can you share your experience with using such backorder companies?

Are you talking about .com/.nets? bc if you do, which companies accept one backorder / domain and have reasonable chances of success?

While I know of some that do what you say, none have *any* chances to get a name. Most probably I'll grab that name faster with any home-made software.

Please clarify : What you mean by one backorder per domain?

A backorder for a domain by only one person. Meaning that if you placed a backorder for ExampleDomain.com, no one else can backorder the same domain. If this backorder service catches it, the name is yours.

The problem is that the registrars that still take exclusive backorders have very little firepower, so the odds they'll get you the domain are virtually nil.

There still are a few companies that serve on first-come, first-serve basis. We for instance, accept only one order per domain (for .in names). For other extensions (com/net), I believe name.com still operates with this model.

Name.com works that way.

As per my experience, chances are very slim that you will win a great name by Nabber (Name Backorder Service).

Reason for that is if its a great name than Nabber would be competing with giants like Snapname and Dropcatch.

Nabber has worked me one out of 7 times. That one time was - <MyName>.net and I believe no one back ordered on SN and DC, therefore Nabber caught :)

Hope this helps!

Discount backorders at Dropcatch are the way to go if you think a domain is unlikely to be competitive. Faster than any of the single backorder services you are seeking.

That said if the domain you want is getting 2 or more backorders at a catcher then you have no option but to get involved in the bidding.

Paying $200 in the expiring auction is better than paying $2000 to buy direct from the new owner.

For some time, I used DropCatch Discount Club, but got discouraged by the fact that the names I was backordering were increasingly going to their “partner”.
