Interesting question, thanks for posting it @Brand Ultra

I would diversify, buying some:
(a) single word .io in topics I think businesses might brand under
(b) a handful of quality .org
(c) .com mainly in mental health / psychology / family life, the sharing economy (ride or office space or vacation rental or equipment share), nanotechnology, biotechnology, neuroscience and medicine
(d) some high quality .top domain names, mainly short
(e) a selection of .science domain names in emerging technologies like nanoscience, nanorobots, gene editing and therapy, space exploration, materials science and artificial intelligence.
(f) a handful of .club,.space, .design and a few other extensions.
(g) some great short (non trademarked) acronyms in several different extensions
(h) some premium geo .icu at the $78 for great price names (some are at $780 and $7800 which seems high, but there are some great cities and regions at $78 still available)
(i) a variety of names that make great domain name phrases

But in practice I have $0.44 left in my monthly quota to spend on domain names, so my choice is easier :xf.sick:

Probably Geo+Keywords. They are easy to find and have built in end users.

Have regged around 150 names at 6.99 each in the past week.

All are dotcom

Word+word or word+suffix or made up ☝

"if your given 100 free .com"

I can give an idea shortly, since I'm going thru a personal hand reg challenge, already sold 4 of them.

Oops sorry for not reading instructions :bigtears:!

In that case I would buy .coms !:xf.wink:

I would try to diversify types with some short letters, some strong two words, and some types in health, space, materials science, co-working and similar spaces, learning, mindful and happy living, biotechnology. I personally would avoid brandables as I don't know them.

I would get some liquid .coms that I could sell right off and get the non coms I want haha :xf.grin:

In 1 day, I couldn't find 100 hand regs to register, maybe 5-10. But let's say I had those names looked up beforehand. I'd probably stick with 2-word as brandable and as short as possible .COMa. Maybe a couple of prefixed/suffixed domains and marketing phrase type of domains in the mix. Geo+services could work, too, but not really into those.

This is a stupid question. I'd register 100 x LL.COM

I believe the Op is referring to the present day as in today, not going back to the past. IMO
