We are developing a Domain Name Generator that suggests domain names based on keyword input.

We are currently in Beta / Testing phase.

Here is the link: https://domainauthor.com/

We are especially looking for feedback on:
  • Design

  • How easy it is to understand & use

  • Quality of the suggested domains

  • Improvement suggestions

Its taking much time to fully render on smartphone. You should work on optimization.

Design looks good, I like it simple and to the point. Easy to understand what it is and does. I’m not sure if “smart extensions” really means anything, that was a little confusing to me - domainers don’t call them that. But I assume this is a tool geared to the general public.

Biggest qualm and hands down the #1 reason I look away from generators like this is the lack of accuracy in showing domains that are *actually* available. 7 out of 10 names that appeared as available and I was interested in under the keyword “crypto” were actually not available.

After testing phase we will upgrade to a bigger server and optimize loading speed. Thanks for testing!

Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding "Smart Extensions", we might need to rename this function or explain it better. It means that we check new gTLDs that fit to your chosen category, e.g. .shop, .store, .deals if you selected the "Shop" category, but we won't be checking .video etc.

Regarding some domains showing as available when they are not, we will look into it and fix it before the launch.

Just spent a few minutes exploring your site.

Loaded fast on mobile (Android).
Loved the design, easy to use.

Only suggestion maybe add the ccTLDs in a a alphabetical order with the "smart extension"
bookmarked

I think this is off to a nice start.

I like that the search results are categorized. One suggestion I'd have is not to show the unavailable names (I clicked a few with the "Check Again" status and all were unavailable).

A "bookmark" or "favorites" feature would be nice - similar to the one lean domain search has.

Design-wise, I'd add a slight bit of complementary color to the orange, like blue - maybe a thin bar at the footer in this color to anchor the site. I like that the site is clean and loads fast. Very usable and uncluttered.

Looking forward to seeing this evolve.

For some reason i can't choose namecheap, it doesn't let me click on it. (firefox last version) Will you add more registrant? ( namesilo, dynadot etc). I don't know if is that what you wanted but i searched a generc word and most of the domains were all taken in every tab, wouldn't be better to only show available domains

I had the same issue in Chrome on the homepage, but if I clicked "More Results" on any of the categories returned after a search, then clicked "Settings", I could select Namecheap.

Just added a backlink to your site.

Thanks everyone for testing and providing feedback.

We improved lots of things since starting this thread, e.g. upgrading the server and adding twice as many modifiers. We also improved the accuracy of our suggestions.

The Namecheap bug has just been fixed.

Yes, we will add more registrars in the future.

Showing unavailable domains will be removed in the next version.

We noted down all other suggestions for further consideration.

Just added a backlink to your site.

Across your whole domain that's 1,800 backlinks. That will do him more harm than good for a new site. Will look spammy to googles algo. Best would be a link to the domain on the homepage or other high authority page.

To settings add:
keyword/topic must be:

I am happy to remove the backlink. All my domains are webmaster related which is the difference google may not like it but my traffic is target webmaster.

It's definitely one of the better domain suggestion sites I've seen and used.

Does it append a pre-selected group of keywords to the inputted keyword? If so, I think you need to work on this. You need give the user more options and it should be more intuitive. You should never run of results because look at how many keywords are available in the dictionary.

The design looks good, but it's really not as important as the usability.

Looks cool. How does your algo compete with namemesh.com

Also, I own namecurl.com which I was orginialy going to build a domain generator on. If you are interested in the name let me know :)

Good idea, thank you. Wrote it down for future updates.

Yes, that's basically how it works. What options would you like? Just tell us, we already added features that were suggested here.

We won't connect it to a dictionary, but instead continue manually selecting the modifiers to ensure a higher quality, although that means it will take us longer to have a huge number of modifiers.

NameMesh's algo provides a larger variety of suggestions. We put the focus on domains that are pronounceable and easy to understand, as we think customers and visitors will be able to remember these domains better, e.g. I type in the keyword "robot" into NameMesh, it shows domains like "robotthros", "athrobot", which I think are quite hard to remember.

Another difference is that we believe the user wants different suggestions depending on what they need the domain for. For example, we suggest different domains if the user needs a domain for an online shop or an app, whereas NameMesh does not differ between that.

We also allow you to use new domain extensions, which is not possible at NameMesh.

Nothing against NameMesh though, they are the most popular domain name generator for a reason. We just have a different approach. Ideally, people would use both NameMesh and DomainAuthor and then just pick the domain suggestion they like more.

What I like about this site is that I never seen a "doubles" (same domain names) in the categories that I checked, at least not in the "top ten". I usually check four/five categories at once.

First off..love your tool, been using it for awhile now and mentioning it on the forum

Now, if this is possible..I tried a two keyword search "Canna Jobs" hoping that I get stuff like 420Jobs
JobsCanna etc...hopefully I explained what I was trying to do!

Thanks for using and recommending DomainAuthor! It helps us a lot.

Yes, i understand what you mean, and that is what we always wanted to do but it turned out it is much harder to do than we thought initially. We are working on it though :)
