FYI, I'm from India and Seva is a Indian word (I don't recollect the language of origin but pretty sure it's Sanskrit or Hindi. While there would have been more appropriate terms to rebrand to for ConvertKit, rebranding to Seva is not offensive at all. I mean seriously, the author of the medium article is not only overreacting but it is also ironic considering she wrote the damn article in English, which, by some stretch, can be considered language appropriation by her!

Meh, ConvertKit buckled when they did not need to or should not have. Seva also means service and is not exclusively a term or word used by the Sikhs.

I think the writer got over paid for this. May be she just don't knew anything about "Seva"?

I am an Indian...Seva is a very common word in many Indian languages...

Seva means service/to serve...

When I first heard about this on DomainNameWire podcast where they did interview with Convertkit founder...

I was surprised to see
1. Convertkit changing its name (because the brand established with its great name and also it's best service)
2. It is changing to an Indian word...of course I will be proud...but I thought how well the users will accept this change...

The founder of Convertkit was very pumped up in that interview...
Few weeks later I got an email saying they are not going to use the name..and remain Convertkit!!

Again surprised to see this twist...

I thought maybe it is a publicly stunt... again I think it is too costly to do stunt like this...
