The internet domain registrar and web hosting company is making it easier to search for and register available emoji-based domains. On Friday, the company launched a search engine for emoji domains. People can visit the site on their phones, type in a string of emoji and see if the domain is available.
As more of the world increasingly uses the internet on phones and other mobile devices, a flood of emoji-based domains seems inevitable. Heck, even the Touch Bar on Apple's new MacBook Pro will let you type in emoji, something that's difficult to do with a traditional computer keyboard...

I know some have no luck in getting their emoji links to work in this thread, try taking a screen shot of it & uploading a file, that way we can see the actual emoji..

Glyphs and Emojys cannot be added to most forums as they can be on the likes of Wordpress, Twitter ,Facebook etc and seen in some browsers and on some devices.
Perhaps NP's technical could advise why that is the case?

It would be good if they could render all Unicode symbols, however I would suggest forum admins to allow it (if possible) only to established members (phishing reasons)

Does namebio report any of these sales (emojis)

We have a handful in the database, mostly provided by Claim.Club. But we don't have an easy way to search for them and we don't display them natively. Could search for keyword "xn--" with .ws and maybe find some. We're looking into better support for emojis, but I don't have an ETA as it isn't a high priority item.

I guess that's what I was wondering thanks

.Could search for keyword "xn--"

Hi thanks Michael, search for just xn-- returns 170 results with 51 of those being over 1k:

It might be interesting to add IDN as a search filter for those who don't undestand the xn-- prefix, and if this gets bigger display the names as they would appear when rendered - looking at the list you just see the raw form.

8 of the xn-- sales are on .ws, all in 2017: https://namebio.com/?s==MDO4YTN2MTM

Dunno, having to "xn--" anything is a real joy sucker. So is having to having to find image hosting just to display your emoji. But one day we'll look back on this archaic stuff with fond memories.

Recently found an extension that works well with emojis, a little too well. Dangerously pretty, a la Gollum. Here's a sample:

Yup, using the .ai extension..

☯.ai

I thought the Yin and Yang symbol would complement "artificial intelligence" perfectly.

Where did you see this? I don't know if ccTLD registries can just suddenly "open up" and have the ability to register emojis. It would depend on what IETF standard they've adopted, and most ccTLD's and gTLD's including dot-com now use the IDNA2008 protocol. This defines which Unicode characters can or can't appear in IDNs.

Only the registries that use the older IDNA2003 standard can allow emoji/symbols registrations.

Neat! didn't know you can register .ai emoji domains.
Me too, till a few weeks ago. Totally by accident. Got sick of using 3rd party registrars for .ai domains for a variety of reasons, and went right to the source instead. Tried an emoji and lo and behold! Someone else caught on around the same time and quietly pocketed some as well..including the robot emoji I thought is an amazing fit with .ai.

Haha... yeah. I went for the robot as well! Too slow! You registered that through whois.ai?

Has anyone actually tested to see if the .ai works? There are 1 or 2 that i'd like, but its a lot to spend if they don't work in a browser.

I registered 2... appeared to work, although that’s a crazy process. Should resolve when they update their nameservers on Monday

That makes three parties thinking about the [robot emoji].ai -- although we were merely talking about it, and actually wrote about it before even seeing your discussion here. Robot = AI

Yeh the process is unique, however pretty seamless. Registrations go through instantly, and the initial nameserver stamps didn't take more than a day for me..

Do share a name once you're satisfied it resolves!

I got two:
🍆.ai
👾.ai

Just forwarding to emoji domain registration for now... but I guess I've gotta build a SEX ROBOT!

Emoji domains have certainly started to create a buzz now. IMO one should definitely hold on to single character .ws emojis (including country flags too which are good). Please check the recent sales of emoji domains here
https://namebio.com/?s==gTN4YjMwYTM
It is obvious that from Nov 2017 sales have soared up.
At present I have 6 emoji domains (including 2 country flag, 1 single character) and I am planning to hold them for another year.
