question How many other domain investors own an RV

I know there are lots of people that jump on a jet and fly all over the world while buying and selling domains. But I'm curious, how many of you own an RV (E.g. Motorhome, travel trailer, Class A, Class B, Class C, Fifth-wheel, A Frame, Popup, Bus conversion, conversion van, etc.) and travel at least a few months a year in it, while domain investing?

Is this even a thing? Am I the only one? Where are you? :)

I have a travel trailer, doesn't do much traveling at the moment.

I have one, but it is definitely not from domain investing. And it is the only way I can vacation at all with 6 kids.

Awesome! Planning to travel more? How much ground have you covered so far?

Excellent. I can only imagine. Our toddler is a handful in our 30ft Winnebago brave. You must have gotten a bunkhouse model.

Just Oregon so far. Wife and I were just talking about getting a 5th wheel and doing some serious traveling across north America.

You're going to love that. I did it solo in my teens and 20's in a conversion van, then solo in a tractor trailer coast to coast in my early 30's, then in a class C solo in my mid 30's, and now married with a toddler and planning to eventually do it again with them in a Class A.

Big difference between doing it solo and with your family. Learning curves. :)

My wife retired this year, I'm working from home. Talking about exploring the southwest this winter.

2015 Thor chateau. Mom(wife) and little one sleep in it, me and kids usually pitch tent. We can all fit inside, but gets a little crowded.

Ahhh.. Ya, you need a bigger bus than that class C model for a family that size. Unless you enjoy the tenting aspect. Then it's no big deal. A passenger van full of tents would work too.

I used to enjoy tenting for years, but for some reason at 45, it's just not as appealing. I like a little more creature comforts I suppose.

1 down 1 to go. Are you thinking about just snowbirding or full-timing in the future?

@E-Promote owns candarv.com. :)
mr-x, looks like that is still avail to reg, you should reg it then come back to the politics thread and debate instead of running off to create juvenile posts elsewhere.

Considering full time rving for at least a year. Still in the planning / dreaming stages but getting closer. I wouldn't miss the northwest winter.

I used to have a camper (trailer). I got rid of it when I got married and started having kids. We camp the old fashioned way, now.

I have a new tent now - does that count :xf.smile: ? The new tent designs are so much better for our senior citizen bodies you really can (2 people) put it up in a couple of minutes, not counting the peg driving time. Anyway, to answer your question, no RV.

How is your family handling life in an RV? Major pitfalls? Traveling or boon docking?

Ya, I don't miss the winters up north either. Lived in Anchorage, Ak. 2 1/2 years, Chicago area 2 years, Kansas, Missouri, etc.. a few years, here and there in my younger years. They can keep the blizzards, icy roads, and snow shoveling up there. :) Beautiful up there in the summer months though.

It's a transition. It's my wife's ( @Amanda ) first time being in an RV for an extended period of time. Slowly but surely we're all adjusting.

Our toddler is loving all the different parks, beaches, playgrounds, woods, deer, cows, fish, and all the other things he's been able to see in both our maiden voyages so far.

So far we've done a little urban camping and taking advantage of RV parks monthly discounts. This gives us more time to see the area in our toad/towed (mid-sized sedan we pull on the dolly behind us). We're trying to take things a little slower so we can enjoy the smaller things in life too on this new journey.

We're down for repairs still right now juggling a few things as we start making more plans. We do intend to travel a lot more once repairs are done and a few other things get wrapped up we are waiting on.

Eventually, boondocking will be in our future, but that will have to wait until we upgrade with solar panels and possibly a portable wind turbine to hook to our ladder for charging in windy areas at night or during over cast days when there's no sun.

Thanks for asking.

I hope everything is well with you and yours?

Added note: Pitfalls - 1) Adjusting to a tiny space with 2 adults and a toddler - 2) Unexpected mechanical repairs.

I kicked myself when I got rid of my Class C. I did that for an ex in Tennessee. Nothing wrong with old fashioned camping. I guess I'm a sucker for glamping. :)

Tenting/camping is close enough. But do you stay out in the tent for multiple months at a time?

I'm really interested to see how many domain investors spend at least 3 months or longer in an RV or even camping in a tent that long, sure. :)

Does Van counts? Used to travel across east coast during my previous commercial cleaning business in the US.

Back in the day, in the previous life, used to deal with them trailers(both single wide and double wides) in the parks for some extra cash, even moved a couple of them, used to be fun.I know this is a stretch to the discussion, but still the same family, If that counts :)

The longest we have tented in a row was just over 5 weeks, but that was prior to my domain name investing days. Did spend 10 weeks living in a small camper van about a decade ago, while travelling and doing a variety of temp things, I did own a few domain names then but was not trying to sell any at that point so not really during domain investing. We found once we were used to life in a van how little we missed anything that we did not have with us!

Since domain investing, the longest I have continuously camped was about 2 weeks at a time. I set my Undeveloped and Efty from BIN to Make Offers during the period in case interest came in while I was not in Internet access. This year we visited 6 of Canada's mountain parks (Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier and Revelstoke) and it was great (despite a mix of some weather!). Canada has some pretty beautiful national parks (bit of tourism promotion haha)!
