Hi

the title.... "I am a re-seller not an end user"

when you see that "line" included in a domains wanted thread.....

does that conjure a preconceived notion about the end-result and or the person who uses it?

are you "more or less" likely, to submit your best domain names for that request,
when such phrases are included with the budget?

and... if the budget that's posted is within a margin "that a seller would sell for"... then why the need to state the statement?

the point i guess, is.....

who cares if you are a reseller or end-user?

the only thing a seller wants to know is, what kind of names you want to buy and how much you're willing to pay for them.

what you think?

imo.....

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Can't blame a buyer on this forum especially for trying to get a bargain, even wanting to nick a great domain and a really low price (if that is possible). If the price a potential buyer is willing to pay falls outside my expectation, I just don't submit my names for consideration. I won't get worked up about the audacity of a buyer offering to pay say low $xx for my domains when I I think that they are worth far more. My instincts tell me that many potential sellers get really offended when "I am a re-seller not an end user" tag is used

If I'm selling to you, you are an end user, you're my end user. I don't have two price tiers for my domains. My price may be agreeable to some domainers, or it may not. It just depends on whether I'm happy with the offer. If I'm not, it's no deal.

I wish I was a re-seller, and not just a buyer. I need to be more proactive and make better use of the free McDonalsds WiFi. Now who wants to swop some names for McD coffee tokens.

Actually, I'd prefer Bitcoin, or, even better, Brittania or Sovereign coins. I quite fancy doing an exchange for a name in the local coffee shop. After all, that's how the London Stock Exchange started. :)

i submitted a name to a dnwanted thread recently

their budget per name was within a range i'd consider selling for

when they replied - yes, they did reply :)
but they didn't ask about the name i submitted,
they were more interested in a list of other names in same category.

(this seems to happen more now with responses, than before)

but again, they prefaced their reply with the "i am not a reseller or i am not an end-user" blah-blah-fefe

still, i gave them some prices and got a counter offer, but amount wasn't sufficient.

so i just said, "thanks, but too low to consider"

and that was it.

imo...

Very soon end users will begin to use "am a reseller" phrase

Very soon end users will begin to use "am a reseller" phrase

Some of us buy domains to develop so technically it already happens as we are the end user

This is what the wtb section has turned into...
I find it revolting

"Must be desperate to sell and need cash now - I do not pay retail prices"

Yes...don't mind anyone stating they must have rock bottom pricing or letting sellers know up front that he/she wants to pay no more than wholesale...but some of the posts are starting to resemble pusher or pawn shop tactics...how about a thread like " Are you starving? Can't pay your medical bills? "Power being shut off? Well, I will gladly give you 5-7% of your domain value"

i don't get offended

i just don't see it as being necessary - when the budget per name is an honest amount that's
reflective of what you're willing to pay.

imo....

I must say I've been guilty of using it myself. Though I didn't do it so I can buy below reseller market value, more to dissuade people from pming names with outlandish prices that were outside of my budget.

But I don't use it anymore, now I just warn folks that if you pm me anything wildly different from my requirements, I'll report you for spam. I wouldn't do it if someone had something a little over my budget but some folks don't even bother reading posts and just fire off pms.

We need to have two categories in auctions. I mean, is it fair that resellers should have to pay the same price as end users.

I wonder if that line would work in the supermarket. " I'm a re-seller and not an end eater, could I have those chops at half price please?"

could I have those chops at half price please

Actually, I do this quite often! :xf.smile:

Got one of the best pepper infused steaks...about 2 inches thick...the other day and it was marked at about 18 bucks. There were about ten in the case and I told the butcher if they were only 4 dollars each I would take them all. He smiled and said to check by on my way out and I walked away. Came back by and they were all marked down...in my freezer now waiting for Saturday night!

Sorry about off topic ramble...maybe as you say, a completely new main heading for wholesale only on NP might be a good idea!?!?

That was good.

Many of these same "I'm a reseller.." requests still insist on using the wrong prefix budget filter. As example, they will post their request in the "Above $1000" category, and only when you read the post do you see that they are willing to pay only $1-$5 per name, with a supposed total budget of $1000. This has been confirmed multiple times by NP admin, as the incorrect way to state the budget which is supposed to be per domain.

I did this at a local restaurant about 10 years ago. The seller wasn't a domainer but he owned a domain he had been using for a side business. The site hadn't been updated for awhile so I contacted him to see if he was interested in selling. He said yes, we negotiated a price and agreed to meet since he was local to me. (Great luck on my part!)

Long story short, we met at a restaurant, I showed him the cash ($xxx), he pushed the domain, I verified it was in my account and then handed him the money. Eazy-peazy!!! It was a fun transaction/interaction.

A few months later he contacted me about buying it back... Yeaaaaah, no! LOL

Sorry, not trying to take this thread OT...

It’s just another way of saying that quoting a willingness to pay $50. - $10000 really means only willing or able to pay $50. per domain.

In other words another of those joke threads where the buyer isn’t paying anything and the only domains being messaged to him are garbage that aren’t even worth $50.

"I will pay $$$ if i like it. It is not that i will pay that for all domains."

This means they are never going to pay $$$ for even the godd domains.

Budget $20-$2,000
Total budget $20,000

translation:

I have $20

Resellers normally won't pay over $50k for a domain name.

I personally believe all buys should have a purpose (so all buyers should be end-users) with a chance of resell before development.

What is better? Buying a piece of land and squatting it for a resale or buying a piece of land, building a home on it, and then reselling it?

I never get offended with the "I am a reseller" or I pay reseller pricing only, reseller or enduser, they both get the same price when a person inquires about a name i own. I will negotiate no problem, but there is never a large margin of room from the original price i quote them. I never get offended though.

Obviously all domainers are resellers. However, we could be divided in these three categories:

1. The marathon runner - A person who buy domains, list them on market places, or with landings, and wait for end users / companies to interact.

2. The sprinter - A person who’s buying domains and try to flip them ASAP. Very often to other domainers. More of a sprinter.

3. A person being a combination of 1 and 2.

Ps. I used to be a “combo guy”, but is a “marathon guy” nowadays.
