Where have you got the idea about smart grids. Is there somewhere you read that? Why would it be a specific domain extension, like .app, if it's something that Alexa uses? Applications that run on Alexa make domains redundant in the most part, why would anyone care which domains the traffic runs over?

Those are examples. The tech will run independent, yet side by side. It's not that you are personally accessing the .app domain, even though you can if you choose to, but the products will SINC to the domains and exchange information automatically without your intervention. This is how companies will link (live / streaming) individual products through smart grids so they can secure, control and exchange information between them and those products. The problem is the intitial set-up for certain products like TV's because when you first buy the product you have to allow the initial "sinc" on your system. It will say something like, "Simply go to HDTV.app to sinc your device." Once you sinc the device, your intervention is no longer required and the device just runs and exchanges information. Other systems like car alarms, or tracking chips will run through the 5G network no matter where you are.

It's the same principle as sinc'ing a pair of blu tooth head phones to your phone, only this system will "sinc" your devices live over the internet to these companies.

Think of the product as the bar code, the .app domain as the reader and the smart grid as system.

I never read anything anything, or saw anything to come to this conclusion. I just asked myself, "Why would Google want a secure tld that is related to apps?" It certainly isn't for the money! There's a motive behind what they are doing, and MY THEORY is above.

Realestates is NOT more valuable than RealEstate.

Can you tell me why you think that RealEstates.app in plural isn't more valuable than RealEstate.app? In most cases the users will search for an "real estates app" I assume.

No, this is not the case, if people search for anything real estate related, most people will use the singular "Real Estate", the plural "Real Estates" is not very popular at all in English

Anyone having problems listing .app at sedo? Keep getting an yellow exclamation box and can't add pricing.

If it’s yellow exclamation it means it’s still pending authorisation ,you should be ok in about 3 to 4 hours it’s the last process of Verification

Make sure your domain is on default parking with your registrar. If you are parked elsewhere it may not work.

Granted, that claim is a tad ridiculous especially with a specified year. However what can be said is that Google is pushing towards experiences that needn't be downloaded (Instant apps, PWA), its pretty much all they banged on about thay their little conference thingy. I think the point is a tad moot though. A website can be an app, take Discord for example. It isn't uncommon for web apps to be referred to or presented as apps (Facebook web apps being a big one).

If you're going to choose .app to present your web app on, good for you. I'm considering it for my next project because I want it to be presented as a SPA - but I have the .com too just for good measure :).

btw, there is a new phenomenon called DAPPs (i.e. decentralized applications). consider the new extension issue from this aspect, also.

Thanks for this. I'd like to know your take on .APP for DAPPs as you know about them. This is the first I've heard of them. Blockchain apps basically?

you may want to check "app dot co" to see a few examples. what i meant was that .app suffix use possibly will not remain limited to "references to android/ios mobile apps" or to "mobile sw development companies", but will extend to refer any kind of new-generation / incoming application types (e.g. dapps, iot apps, vr apps etc.)

Always nice to get updates on a sales thread with no sales.

I mean, common. The extension has just been released. There has already been sales, and the future of apps is bright.. The potential is huge, so lets just wait and see. No doubt alot of folks are drooling on some very nice app domains they wish they had. IMO

Such a garbage name that it's impossible to use this sale as pricing guidance for .app's imo

from another point of view, this sale may be considered as an indicator of that such a name (allegedly garbage) with .app extension is capable of finding $4-digit deals.

That's exactly the point in domaining! A domain is worth what someone is willing to pay for it! One mans trash is another mans domain treasure!
