Are you less likely to buy a domain if it's 1 year old only?

It, is a known fact that aged domains rank better in google, however it seems like as many has half the domains listed on namepros (auction section especially) have been registered in the last 3 months, so not even 1 year old. What do you guys think about the value of domain age?

I hand regged a name on 11/2017 and sold it for $8500 on 5/2018.

I only hand-reg.
Please can you send me the name so I can publish it on my above linked article

covfefe.com

Was handreg'd with immediate X,XXX offers.

Age is something I do personally look at, I don't usually pick up domains that have a history of being dropped. A good rule of thumb -- is if it has a consistent owner, there is a reason for that.
Please can you post the venue of sale actual price and date for publication on my article.
Cheers

It's very bad and namepros members who do it are teaching the newbees how to lose money. We need threads advising against it. One or two a year at most. Then the other 50 - 100 domains you buy should be dropcatch or from some auction platform just try to get them below wholesale. Even, better get them off here and flip (although domains do sell super high on namepros there are some good deals).

Dropcatch usually are domains that people do not want anymore... so value = 0
There is a small percentage of domains that drop and that there are good and people forget to renew them.

age does not matter we drop catch old premium domains these still fetch high prices and still people buy them makes no diffrence if they are 1995 or 2018 reg....

Every good domain is taken and domains drop for a reason. If, they drop they and are worth even a little they are picket up by snapnames, dropcatch, dynadot expired auctions, etc. Registers are not morons they don't let domains be registered by hand. Chance, are if you have hand-regged a domain it was either dropped (it's a bad domain), or was never registered in the history of the internet. It is foolish to hand-reg from all we are learning, 1 to 2 domains a year is too many!

That statement reminds me of the quote "Everything that can be invented, has been invented", falsely attributed to Charles H. Duell, commissioner of the US Office of Patents, in 1899.

I registered competenceFramework.com when that became the in thing. I also make up names or just check and find gems like PrivateHolidayLets.com

If i like it, I buy it. hand regging is a way of life if you have been in this industry for a while, gathering leads on up and coming trends before they actually launch has been my lifeline through the years. I have hand regged far more domains than i have bought. An old friend of mine here @ NamePros and myself stayed up all night one night regging 4 letter .coms @ $3.99 a name, It was a blast of fun, and very profitable too.

Can you tell me what name that was, and if their was any negotiating back and forth for that price? Thanks, also if your buying a name with the intention of re-selling it, than ye you do want to be aware of the names history, but you dont actually care WHEN it was registered you know? As a buyer they are buying the name for a hundred reasons that override the fact that it was hand reg. yesterday, or 3 years ago..
