I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The trend I've been seeing is repeating letters, (particularly ii's) making the ultimate brandable "Maaple".
Possibly, yeah. Different strokes.

It's a question of whether less is more, or more is more. Haha.

Why end there

Mapple (which probably looks the best)
Mapll
Mapli
Maplii
Mapll

One could go on and on but every 10 reg adds up at the end of the year

I don't think any of these are of the same ilk as either Mapl or Maaple - both of which can naturally be pronounced as the root word, maple.

It's disingenuous to suggest a false equivalency.

There is ultimately a limit to how one can effectively manipulate a given word to uphold some semblance of its original form.

Priide != Pridde

I know they are a stretch but Mapple is actually quite good

I was just joking a bit with the others but if I were to register I would pick Mapple before Maaple

All in good faith :xf.smile:.

I agree - I actually think mapple would make for a fantastic Canadian map app. A directory of sorts.

You've got a lock on mâpl.ca, màpl.ca and mæple.ca too ;) (ref)

I think mApl.ca is a great brandable :)

To change the subject a bit

I bid $25,000 on a 4 letter .ca and was just informed I did not win the bid.

So it goes to show people are turning down solid offers but not always wisely. The domain was a good domain but the owner has had it for a long time and non of the other major extensions are in use.

So basically everyone is sitting on the domains.

I cannot divulge what it was because I will make the same offer once per year to see if the owner changes his mind. I often get the domains the second or third time around because a locked in offer through Sedo can be quite tempting.

Any thoughts on my previous post about Symbl.ca? I'd like to brainstorm on how we can prevent big banks and vc funded startups from branding themselves with $10 hand-regs.

Symbl seems like an odd name for a cannabis “brand” to me... but as with any brand, I guess once it’s marketed/advertised it might seem completely normal. Today Nike is “normal” and recognized world wide.... but 40 years ago if you heard the word Nike you might be thinking WTF??? So, Symbl may seem odd now....but who knows what the future holds.

Shopify is all about traffic just like anything else. Clothing / Shoes etc some times you will have more returns depending on where your sourcing the products from. I have a cpl stores, and am failing because of, Time, $, and dedication to the stores. www.FlyGRL.com and www.MiniVrCam.com some sales but only when you drive traffic. also have Divegear.ca and SurfShop.ca that are both high prices items so more room for profit but still have not built them out. looking to sell

I was sent an invite last year for myself + 1 but wasn’t able to make it at the last minute.... How was it?? Did they just cruise up Indian Arm past Deep Cove? Or stay out in the English Bay Area?

Nice! I went to the meet-up at Webnames building rooftop patio in Vancouver the previous year... awesome speakers...Kevin Ham / Cybele Negris and a few other speakers including a guy from Hexonet... The more I think about it...the more I think I may try to hit the cruise this year. :)

Look at ECWID.com

Much cheaper and I use it on a site doing 1.5 million per year in sales on a .ca extension

Just thought I would point out that this morning Domain Brothers have been promoting a number of their .ca domains on their twitter feed, one of which is whiskey(.)ca

https://twitter.com/DomainBrothers/status/1018847544733061120

I just checked that link out the one in the link was for "Whisky.ca" anyone hear if DomainBrothers are making any sales? I tried them but did not like there landing pages. Before i left they said the landing pages were being revamped. The old ones they were using on my domains contained adsense, and they were promoting their own products on my lander.

Oops sorry, for wrong spelling. As a nondrinker I can't even spell the word whisky it would seem! :xf.smile: I think it is good I don't invest in domain names in the area!

I visit them every so often but higher quality domains like whiskey are pretty sparce there and like you I hate the idea of advertisements for other peoples domains on my landers.

Best solution will always be my own landers.

I quit afternic yesterday because of all the emails asking for price when they have no buyer just somebody who is not ready to buy yet but wants a price.

I had $250-$1000 as an opening bid, what more do they need, make an opening bid to start negotiations. Please don't waste my time with..... buyer is not ready crap
