Does a domain have to have traffic to be valuable.

I wrote a lot of other stuff here but I think the question is a good enough start.

Not really from my own opinion. Though traffic is one of the factors that make good domains but there are other factors that makes domains valuable. Such as dictionary words; one word or two words, services or products oriented and with good searches on search engines etc. IMHO

In 15+ years of selling domains to end users none have asked for traffic stats. Majority of these sales were $8 acquisitions into 1-16k sales. Most of these sales had minimal traffic.

Domainers care about traffic stats, end users not so much.

Traffic is just one indicator of value.

I don't think the domain Google.com was getting any traffic before Alphabet acquired it.

Traffic do come with age and development; provided it has some good searching as one of its intrisinc values.
Cheers.

Depends on who you are trying to sell it to.
