Earlier today, Elliot Silver reported that Coins.com sold for 7 figures.
Adam would not share the purchase price or terms of the deal with me, although he did confirm that it was a seven figure deal.

Since acquiring the domain name, the buyer has already received offers of almost $10 million.
Adam mentioned that since acquiring Coins.com, he has been contacted by quite a few of the larger crypto-companies and exchanges who have either tried to buy Coins.com or have proposed other types of deals. I was told that the domain name is not for sale, and is only bring positioned with a major joint venture in mind, despite receiving offers of “almost $10 mm from existing crypto players.”

By the way, Which is a better name - Crypto.com or Coins.com? Even though I love Coins.com, my vote goes to Crypto.com

That's a good one. Congrats to parties involved

In terms of a brand name, I would take Crypto.com over Coins.com every single day. Coins.com in the plural is not in the same caliber as Crypto.com IMHO :)

Agreed -- but these names didn't sell for the same price/equity/etc..

Price-tag & balancing the fact that Coins still makes a stellar brand, who knows..it's a great sale, either way!

(Assumingly) Crypto /com was sold for a much higher price tag, that is..

*Also, can't imagine that it hurts the overall value of e-coins /.com which I acquired for $xxx this year.

100% agreed. The strength of Crypto.com cannot be overstated.

Interestingly, though, Coins.com will persist to have value irrespective of the future of cryptocurrencies.

As a result of crypto-frenzy, I often find myself losing sight of just how large the numasmatism + coin retail markets are.

Agree in this case but 'coins' will always have value regardless what happens in the crypto market, ‘coins’ is a great stand-out name to build a brand around in the crypto market, but if crypto goes tits up, Crypto dot com (whilst still good) won’t be a 7 figure domain anymore in my opinion and 'coins' will have a higher sell on value than 'crypto'.

I’d take names like money/bank over any of them though.

Definetly the right time to sell it. I'd also prefer crypto.com over coins.com anytime.

I would argue that regardless of what happens in the "Cryptocurrency" market, "Cryptography" has a brighter future online than coins do.

Coins.com as a plural really throws me off to be honest. I just picture a website selling old coins. :)

P.S - I'd give anything to own Coins.com though lol

Indeed, the "crypto" term has been in the digital security and encryption space long before the cryptocurrencies have emerged. There are established "crypto" sites in multiple extensions in this niche.

I know a lot of people prefer "Crypto" to "Coins" but it really depends on the use of the end user.

I am in agreement with Kingslayer that if 'Crypto' technology fads out for another technology, "Coins" will always have a very strong value.

Many people in the wave of a trend can never see past the trend, but I have a Zip drive in my garage that can tell you a story of $250 USD wasted on a external zip drive that became useless within the year when CD-RW technology became affordable enough to slap in your gateway computer.

By no means am I saying that crypto is done for, its a great technology, but most people don't realize that Bitcoin takes up 160GB of space on each computer it uses. Crypto is going to have a big storage problem on their hands as ledgers increase and the security of virtual wallets are continually compromised.

A lot of people lost a lot of money in the past 6 - 8 months. Go talk to someone who bought BTC at $15k+ and ask them how great crypto is.

For now, great transactions for both buyer and seller. I wouldn't mind 7 figures added to my pocket myself :)

To be honest, I prefer Coins.com just for the simple fact that coins are not just restricted to crypto currencies. Of course, Coin.com would have been better.

The kind of sale a great many of us dream of making.

The buyer now intends to leverage Coins.com to maximize it's valuation potential.
The 7 figures he paid could later on look like a bargain.

The buyer is “seeking to position Coins.com in a joint venture capacity with a major group (i.e. top digital asset exchange or platform in the cryptocurrency space, or traditional stock exchange or IBANK like Nasdaq, Deutsche Bourse or Goldman Sachs).

Generally :
Singular is Brand. .. Crypto.com is brand ( could be anything related to crypto )
Plural is Business ... Coins.com is business ( more of selling/trading coins )

Crypto.com is more valuable but coins is also a very good asset that covers every aspect of crypto. But crypto as you all knew, covers includes the aspect of security more better than that of coins; coins covers more than virtual money as it includes physical cash. such as old coins in existence before the arrival of cryptos
Above all in my opinion I love crypto and liked coins.

Coins as a word will have a much greater value with or without the crypto laundry created so far.

Coins isn’t all that great imo. It’s very low 6 figs, where crypto could be $50 million plus...
