If you have been into the industry for some time, you may have sold multiple domain names to the same buyer.
While that goes on to show that maintaining your end of the bargain and proper communication and network with the buyer is a must, one of the important lessons I learnt was being proactive.

I happened to buy some 50 casino names in the past. All were geo domain names with casino niche.
Back then, I was trying to outbound a different name and during a follow up mail, the buyer asked if I has any casino names.
It was 10 days into the buy and I sent him the list of first 10 names.

The names had a price tag of around $500 each with a bulk buy price of around $2,500. If he took all the 10 names, $2,500 was the price.
The aim was to make him purchase all the 10 names.

After some back and forth negotiation, the buyer agreed to buy all 10 names at $2,250.

A week after the deal was done and names pushed, I sent a list of another 20 names for him to choose from.
All 20 were at $2,500.
Single names at $200.
10 names at $150 each.

We had a deal of again. Since it was cheaper for him, he went ahead with the first one.
Within a month, he came back to ask if there were more names with me.
I sent the list of rest 20 names and he took like 8 or 9 of them.

This time, I think I sold each one for a $200 and ended up making like $6,000 - $7,000

While it may not be a major sale, selling like 40 odd names was a personal victory for me. I think being proactive is a plus in this industry considering the fact that you don't spam.

P.S. The numbers shared are based on memory and may differ a bit!
The deals were done in bulk and that is the main take away from this thread.

Casino names do well if targeted to the right buyer.
I personally like Gaming niche as well.

Thanks for the piece. Really informative. Similar to what I'm developing with my private marketplace, cos I found that established marketplaces are highly unwilling to give the lead contact out to you, even after you've successfully closed a deal. For example, on GoDaddy auctions, you can only communicate with buyers through the internal messaging system, almost anonymously: Buyer1, Buyer2 etc.

May we know who the buyer is? It helps us to showcase our casino domains to him!

Thanks

It will put buyer into problem as he'd be loaded with spam messages.
I think if you look at namebio sales, you'd get possible buyers for your name.

10 - 15 days after hand registration they started selling.
The entire deal took like a month and a half or two.

Yes, that's the problem which is why I believe simply sitting with your domain names unless they are ace names doesn't make sense.

I had dozens of 3 letter .co's. Sold Chinese pr emium ones, without knowing which ones were so, for high 2 figures each.
The rest, I agreed to sell for low 3 figures, but buyer said their Chinese client insisted on Godaddy. What
a nonsense, because after push transferring to Goddaddy was easy. And I dropped them, because if premium ones sell for 2 figures after big effort, nonpremiums wouldn't be worth renewing for 25 usd at enom (this is what Enom offers to platinum resellers). And now any 3 letter .co seems to sell for 5000.

What is the magic behind Godaddy. Godaddy is just another english speaking registrar. Don't Chinese people like Sedo, or Enom, or sending an email in English.

Btw Sedo search function is getting worse and worse everyday. I search for a keyword for which I own exact matching .net. But Sedo is showing zero-value synonyms and my domain can't be seen anywhere. it looks like Sedo doesn't want to sell domains, because it is a waste of time for them! Also creating obstacles, by showing location of the bank of the seller, and telling buyers that renewal can be expensive for a newtld domain they purchase.

Thanks for sharing Arpit. Like your "Casino" portfolio of names, I also own names associated with groups, and or industries. Most of my portfolios have both .com names as well as new gTLD's. While I don't have the domain experience you have, my plans include selling/offering individual names, or entire portfolios. Another option is to "partner" with someone who can not only use some of my names, but can help to promote names to industry peers via industry trade associations and industry trade shows.

To give you an example, I own portfolio's of .Golf and .Club. domains. I'm currently in talks about partnering with a golf "group" that owns about 50 properties, public, private and semi private.

On another note, I see you're from India. While I have a lot of very successful friends here in the states from India, you're the second entrepreneur from India I've had the pleasure to meet here on NamePros. After telling a friend who owns a registrar here in the states about my new contacts, he had me check out IncredibleIndia.com So while accumulating a new portfolio of "Incredible" domains (mostly .com's), I also just hand registered a domain for "Incredible Indonesia" after learning about the worlds largest largest Island Nation with over 13,000 Islands.

Thanks again for sharing Arpit.

That happens with a lot of early investors.
Some people have shared stories that are opposite of that. They happened to hold .mobi portfolio for long instead of selling it.
Part of the game.

Sure would love to know your definition of "major"..in my opinion, you made major profit on your sale and you didn't have to deal with 40 different potential buyers...
just my thoughts!

Major meant not a big sale of any one particular domain.
I mean all domains were like xxx sale and none was xxxx. Hence!

Update: After this thread, I did outbound for yet another casino name and a small deal is in discussion. I hope it will close in a couple of days.

I think such buyers have direct contact with endusers. When normal domainers contact potential endusers they remain silent. Maybe they will pay 50K after 2 years, but right now if we offer such a domain for free they will just not hear it. I tested it several times.

I offer a domain for free, they ignore.
I offer a domain for a low price, they ignore.
Instead of buying a domain which I could buy and later sell to them or others, I tell them that domain is availbale. They ignore. I mean, not buy that domain.
They claim to be dom.ext on their web site, while that domain is actually mine. I inform them about this situation, and they just ignore it.
They own .net, .org. .biz, ... and .com is available. If I tell them about it, guess what they will do: they will ignore.

Ignoring is such a fun globally.

Small update: After writing this post, approached 2 more leads(one of the same company and one to it's competitor) in the same niche.
Closed another small sale with the same buyer.

Would be targeting another niche and will try to go for a similar bulk deal again. Let's see!
