How many times have you clicked on a domain for sale and seen that the person is asking a million dollars or more for a reg fee name? Is anyone tired of the waste of space??? I know we are all dreamers but to post something on a reseller forum for sale with really absurd prices shouldnt be allowed,

Thoughts and opinions appreciated

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
No, I actually suggested this in another thread, about that 1 dude trying to sell that porn678.com or whatever for like 10 million dollars. Makes the place look like ebay. Just like you need approval first to list domains in Top Domains, maybe you should get approval first for prices like that.

This thread
https://www.namepros.com/threads/278-hours-after-last-bid.1081782/page-2#post-6722442

Response was:
"We will consider adding a separate section with more standardization (auctions run for no more than X days, priced reasonably, etc.). As was suggested in this thread, it would require manual approval similar to the Top Domains section, so we will have to consider that idea after we finish our existing projects and can dedicate time to the new workload it would require."

This thread will probably be moved to the Suggestion Forum if you look for it in the future and it's not here.

This is the porn name - https://www.namepros.com/threads/porn786-com-with-lucky-no.1055135/

Looks like a better deal now, dropped from about 10 million to only $7,500,000, bumps the more legit fixed price threads down.

In make offer we have minimuns. Maybe a system like that for regular auctions based on starting value would work. Above 500$ start and we're in another league, and I guess people who are trying the seven figure strategy would think twice since their exposure is limited.

ridiculousness is obvious, so we just move past those

but because it's a "reseller" forum, shouldn't dictate the price you can ask for your domain.

cuz.....once you set the bar, then who can spring over it?

imo...

This is just one example of many. I think something could be done about this nonsense.
Do we really need this type of stuff clogging the forum with like 150 bumps as well?

Maybe, a special section for domains priced at over 1,000,000 (they can't list junk in top domains), so it could be called the million dollar+ section

lets hope they add that ignore thread feauture super soon

its clearly necessary if np members are left on their own when comes to being exposed to nonsense... in its many forms..on np

I mentioned the same guy numerous times and I got deleted by the mods. I responded to his topic and asked him if he felt a bit touched in the head. The mods thought that was not allowable but I just wanted to put some sense into him.

I've been trying for months to address this but gave up on it because technically he is not breaking any rules. What he is doing however is making the board look like a joke and when an outsider sees that they consider namepros to be a joke as well.

He should be able to ask his million but in my opinion we should be able to correct him. I have long since been for opening up the marketplace to comments. I think the threads die because nobody is allowed to say anything and the OP has to keep bumping until the topic dies. Constructive criticism is good even in the marketplace and I think I even suggested once that the owner of the topic could say....

Comments - Allowed
Comments - DisAllowed

Personally I would allow comments in my marketplace posts.

Some of them are just begging for comments..... :xf.laugh::xf.laugh::xf.laugh:

Infractions only last for a time and are then removed, a proverbial wrist slap so to speak.

Comments don't belong in sales threads in my opinion, because that is a slippery slope, no one here has the right to disrupt someone else's selling. If it's a scam or illegal then that should be reported and the mods should delete immediately.

There are a lot of things a lot of people don't think should be allowed here, Namepros has rules for a reason because once you open that box it's off to the races.

And as many have told me throughout the years when offering advice, "Raymond I don't much care what anyone who is not buying my names thinks."

i brought this up before somewhere.. regarding illegal and scams.. do you know sometimes it can take hours.. sometimes even many hours before a mod gets to a report? imagine during that time someone on np says sold bin on an illegal domain sale... pays for it... concludes deal etc.. then discovers it was a scam.. and all this could have been avoided if np allowed others who have an experiened ability to tell scam from real... to say on the thread its a scam.

instead, if you do it (yes even when reporting scam) on the thread, you get yet another warning.

this is clearly ridiculous.

as for other comments.. i think this thread is about the clear cut obvious cases.. which also are easy to tell to the trained eye.. we're not just talking about commenting on whatever sale, whenever we feel like it.. thats wrong. but at least allow the obvious stuff.

imo

cheers

I agree if it's a scam, I don't think this thread was about that, it was about people asking ridiculous prices, I think people can ask whatever they like they are screwing themselves. But what if you are asking $10,000 for a name that someone who considers themselves experienced, or a know it all, and they start leaving comments like you are a joke, idiot, etc...

There was a time where comments happened way, way back, and it got ugly, because people start threatening and looking to take other matters into their own hands.

I have set ridiculous prices before on domains that I don't want to sell. If it sells, then I'm happy. (It never happens.) If it doesn't sell, then I'm happy. So, I'm fine with ridiculous prices.

maybe you did it for endusers.. on something like sedo..

when you ask for 50 million on namepros (which is what this thread is about)... and target resellers... you will probably end up on everyone's ignore list.

on the other side of this ridiculous coin

what about domains wanted section

where folks post budgets of $,$$$ and then are only paying up to $20 for each domain

and they got criteria seeking premium domains, wanting to know registrar, age, exp date, etc.
not to mention some include threats of reporting you to mods, if you don't meet it.

just think....you get all that, for a chance to sell them your name for $20.

imo....

You mean like this - https://www.namepros.com/threads/trumpdynasty-com-for-sale-100-million-usd.982998/ ? ;)

Or let's raise that up to prices starting with the big B:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/us-vip-domains-for-sale.1000713/

I agree that it's just ridiculous but then regular million dollar sellers are familiar so I just ignore their threads. Similarly, ignore the really cheapskate buyers who have XX,XXX budgets at $20 / domain.

However, I also agree with @equity78's comments. Such members should free to ask (or offer) ridiculous prices. They're only wasting their time (and, well, perhaps the time of the thread readers). If we bring in price-moderation or approval, who is to decide that the moderator appraised price is appropriate or not? What makes them decide this is correct?

For example, I'm in a whatsapp group where the group admin is anal that domains cannot be offered for sale at a price higher than the average price of the class of domains at chaomi.cc. No matter what. He absolutely does not even discern the difference between differences in domains with the same letter (for example, rain.com vs ianr.com). In that group, he even encourages selling below market price. And if anyone tries to price domains at prices higher than the avg price, they get kicked from the group. The hell I'd sell rain.com for $150!
