Don't buy .com.co domains. Not sure if anyone mentioned this. Basically zero market.

To OP...

Any attempts to contact the mentioned Taiwan manufacturer will be considered as "bad faith".

Remove all content from it...
Leave just Contact Form.

And that's all.

While not absolutely a TM nightmare (you could conceivably be a tennis fan who wants to develop it), there is no upside. If you don't develop it outside of PC+electronics, then Acer will likely send a legal notice and if you try to sell it to them, you might be in real hot water.

Your best bet it to just drop it now at the registrar level, and you won't be liable for anything.

That ship has already sailed. It's already been developed as a tech website--and, worse, it mentions Acer's competitors.

perhaps we could sit tight and watch the final time of the ship slowly sink down to the bottom.....

TM domains are selling regularly up to $5K...
Sometimes even higher.

Usually only to people who don't understand that it could easily be seized, or who are willing to develop them in an unrelated industry (and risk the legal fees). Since it's so risky and likely to take advantage of newer, less knowledgeable domainers, we don't allow such transactions here.

+ as already said above - nothing special here... just dictionary word.
For example in Catalan it means STEEL.

Look at the site, though. It's already developed in Acer's industry.

Wonder what would happen if he deleted the current content, and offered it to registered Acer dealers?

The only person who'll be able to sell acer.com.co is your registrar.

Absolute junk. And Acer screams major trademarked brand. Another thread in how to waste your money.

I thought I was posting on NamePros not NameNoobs.

TBF to the OP though this is in the domain beginners section, and like in every business sector you get people trying to set up without proper knowledge...as long as he takes notice of the advice given to delete content and drop...not that he has up till now, but you never know

Good point. I overlooked the "Domain Beginners" section. In total agreement with what you wrote. I wouldn't even let that domain name expire, it'd be manually deleted from my portfolio the moment I realised I made a mistake and put the experience down to ... lesson learned. And that's just one lesson of many...

When checking namedroppers.com - I see X,XXX registered domains which start with acer word...
And this is just in some legacy TLDs...

Really beginners section... if you can't recognize the dictionary words.

He must NOT offer it.
Such domains can be sold in passive mode only... Strict inbound - in other words.
Contact Form without any content should be safe and enough 100%.

If the mentioned Taiwan manufacturer - they already own .CO
So their inquiry for .com.co is just question of time.

Quick question, can he not sell or use it as ACER PLUMBING?

Also is the trademark relevant if living in another country where the trademark is not applied?

I'm not a lawyer...
But I'm sure that he can register the local Colombian TM (Class: plumbing etc.)... and then freely offer such services.

No, I don't believe that's the case.

Nonsense. Is he going to set up a Plumbing service in reality? No.
Would a tribunal believe he registered in good faith? No.
I think I'll register cocacola.com.co and sell school shoes for juniors.

Just because you offer different services or implied, doesn't mean that you're not causing a clash or trademark confusion. As with any legal issue, consult an experienced specialist.

This thread is not about plumbing...
And just the domain registration is not an issue... only activity/content matters to dispute the certain domain.
