The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
p.s. @namesilo I hope you guys understand how absurd the system currently is. What you're basically offering buyers is this:

Hey customer, here's a domain you might be interested in. We're doing everything we can in order for you not to end up getting it. But if you want to try and get it anyway, you have to put money into our system and then often wait for over a month to know the result. And in the extremely likely scenario that it gets renewed- you can't get your money back until 60 days have passed.

Does this make any sense from a buyer's perspective? I hope you can agree that it doesn't so knowing that- I truly hope you'll figure something out to make the process better. :)

Maybe the new owners will change the expired system up. That's the only change I'd support.

Hi there
We've noticed that our domain "push" to another account gets rejected with an ambiguous error. Have other people seen this? After some trial and error, we figured out we need to manually unlock it first - would be nice if the "push" allowed seamless unlock if that really was necessary. Or at least a note that 'we will unlock it to allow push'
Only recently I had a tough time transferring domain to a buyer's account with another registrar. I'd duly unlocked the domain, but five stressful days NameSilo refused to approve the transfer until I contacted their support. I've domains with four other registrars and do not experience this sort of artificial barrier.

From their support team response (see screenshot), I was made to understand that for hitch-free transfer, I MUST sell my domains at their marketplace. Hilarious indeed!
Hilarious, because initially I was naive enough to believe that their marketplace will augment additional exposure for my domains. I listed all the domains. For several months, nothing.
On the other hand via my private marketplace (NameCape.com) I sell on the average 1 domain per week.

To NameSilo's credit, however, I'll say their system is superb and simple to use; UI is not responsive, though . They have competitive prices, no hidden fees along the way to checkout. Bulk domain forwarding is simply a bliss - no other registrar (among those I've tried) has that time-saving feature.

Hello. We really were not frustrating your efforts in any way. We simply replied that the gaining registrar sends the transfer authorization email, not our system. Therefore, it was the gaining registrar who was delaying your transfer efforts, not us. Further, we do permit expediting outgoing transfers so there is no need to wait 5 days (or any time at all) when transferring away. Simply put, the gaining registrar had not emailed you to request transfer of the domain - that was between that registrar and you, having nothing to do with our system. Once they did email you, I'm sure you could then authorize the transfer which would then have allowed you to expedite from our end.

Sorry if you felt out reply was also pushy in some way - that is not our intent. Our support rep was just trying to let you know that issues related to inter-registrar transfers for domain sales can get tricky and may not be immediate. As you experienced, there can be problems with the gaining registrar, confirmations from Buyers, etc.

Thanks for your feedback and please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

a quick question to @namesilo - how do I set capitalization for a number of marketplace listed domains in bulk? I think this was mentioned somewhere, but cannot find it. What I have is just a list:

CoolDomain.com
AnotherGreatDomain.com
...
LastDomain.com

I am looking to copypaste it to some form, submit it, let the system parse it, apply to eligible domains (that I have registered and marketplace listed) and report any potential errors or mistypes which no doubts could happen, since I prepared this list manually

Hi @tonyk2000 . You can modify up to 500 at a time via this page:

https://www.namesilo.com/account_marketplace_financial_marketing.php

We unfortunately do not currently have a file upload option for case changes.

Thanks @namesilo , so please consider bulk list upload (txt or form) as a feature request... Current scheme is not practical for thousands of domains

Sure thing - we'll see if we can get something added.

Yes, you can use Google Analytics and/or Statcounter.

Thanks for your response. Duly noted.
I'll be transferrring another domain during the week. Let's see how things work out this time.

@namesilo - When a payment plan is cancelled due to non-payment, could you include a financial summary in the "domain marketplace non-payment" notification email? Something along the lines of this:

Sales price: $2500
Down payment: $500
Installment payment amount: $200
Number of months: 10
Total amount paid: $1300
Uncompleted payment amount: $1200

You earned $1202.5 after our commission of $97.5

Currently the non-payment email notification does not include any financial details of the terminated payment plan.

Also, if an offer or counter-offer is let to expire, can you send us a notification email indicating that the offer for domain.com has expired and that negotiations have been closed as a result? Other marketplaces send out this email, and it serves as a useful reminder for taking follow-up actions (i.e. re-listing the domain with a lowered price as a last resort effort to close the deals <--- this approach has been working particularly well after you started including the new BIN price in the re-listing notification to buyer).

I had my first sale at NameSilo and requested a payout by wire transfer yesterday. Today before noon local time, the money was already in my bank account in Europe.

Very impressed!

NameSilo always pays the fastest.

No problem. We've completed both requests. The email sent when payment plans are not completed now contains the information you requested. We will also now send out notifications when offers/counter offers expire.

How many visitors does https://www.namesilo.com/Support/Marketplace have per day? How many sales per month? I think a mature marketplace would probably have 30+ sales per month, although ideally 100+

We have posted sales data a few times earlier in this thread. The last time we did so was in late March (https://www.namepros.com/posts/6638312/). We'll try to post some updated numbers in the next few months.

I'm sorry, but we do not currently have traffic data to the Marketplace.

Thanks for the reply!

We'd love to sell some that we have at Godaddy, but won't move them over until we have a sale, or bid above reserve. Can we sell them on your platform? At the moment we use Godaddy Auctions.

Ok I see. If this changes, do let us know.

Maybe you can allow domains at other registrars to be listed with Make Offer only, No BINs. If someone wants to add a BIN after negotiations, they must transfer to namesilo.

That's a very interesting idea that we had not previously considered - thanks! We'll see if this is something we could get added.

Yeah I thought about this too. Would be a nice option for sure.

At this time, NameSilo is probably the only one _clean_ marketplace. As soon (and if) external domains will be allowed under any model, it will no more be the case. Folks will add domains and forget to delete them if sold elsewhere or not renewed etc. Those domainers who care will need to add NameSilo marketplace to their "regular check" list to determine domains that they just acquied after a drop or otherwise - but which are listed at NameSilo. NameSilo will have listings of domains that are in redemption, pendigdelete or even free which will cause customers confusion. The last but not the least, self-proclaimed "brokers" will start listing domains they do not own under makeoffer model, and with the current state of whois it would be hard to perform necessary pre-listing checks. NameSilo will need to hire additional staff to deal with all this.

Long story short:
@namesilo - For Gods sake, please do not allow external domains in the marketplace.

Thanks @tonyk2000 - appreciate the feedback as always. The issues you listed above are a few of the reasons why we have been resistant to allowing domains not registered with us on our Marketplace. We would not move forward with allowing external domains if we could not think of ways to mitigate the problems that could occur if we did not address the issues you listed, and others.

Thanks again
