When you posted that in the other thread and before I listed it all...
I thought it was a "talk box" like this classic

I love Frampton's stuff from that era on his 76' live album, it's too bad he never got anything else to register with the public. He did an album/cd and had a cover in the past 10 or so years of "While my guitar gently weeps", really a nicely done cover.

Paul's work on that vocal lines is something I have in mind for my work and been starting to work on, but it's really time consuming. Not a talk box, it's all done with taking and transcribing and find tuning all his tones. Even for a super gifted pro like him to nail those sorts of sounds- it's really painstaking recording, many, many overdubs- without home digital recording probably be cost prohibitive. He mentioned briefly as I just listened to his interview where he mentioned it. Not sure if you have interest, it's boring if you aren't into guitar technical stuff, not sure but here:

This DVD is really great, he played the RAH in 2009 for first time.
This cover of ZZ's Just got Paid is really cool.

@briguy You mentioned you like Blues and Rock. Joe says he is influenced from "2nd generation" electric players like Clapton, Kossoff (Free), Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac pre Stevie/Christine women), etc. this concert he did this in Germany (Rockpalast) with his original band. His bass player Eric Czar really made it a great power trio, and saw him with these guys live with like only 50 other people in a small bar before he got popular. But he continued with new musicians all along his career. He is playing his metal body telecaster, it was a gift from what I read. He no longer plays it as far as I can tell.

Listen to what he ends this with.... the frampton riff.... ha.

That is Jeff Becks lick to the old Howlin Wolf tune.

Joe is badazzed, though.
No doubt about it.

I saw them at the Roxy
We were partying at the Rainbow and a friend came in and said these guys were going to play next door.
A GF at the time was an x Playboy centerfold and she got us in, right up front.
What a night.

I almost quit playing guitar after that show. I figured "Whats the use?"
But I didn't.

Peace,
Kenny

Did Nickelback write a song about you?

"And we'll hang out in the coolest bars
In the VIP with the movie stars
Every good gold digger's gonna wind up there

Every Playboy bunny with her bleach blond hair
And we'll, hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar
Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar
"

Nothing serious...just being me and having fun!

Only about 87% of that is true in my circumstance. :-P
Never wanted to be a Rock Star, but L.A. in the 80's...
weird scenes inside the gold mine.

There was a lot of that "we just wont eat" thing going on... lol

Peace,
Kenny

Lucky guy! Must have been great, and at the Roxy too, going there is almost like you saw them in your living room. I discovered that “Friday night in San Francisco” CD late, I was like 30 then. I had my share of good luck though, being young enough to see so many of the 70’s bands, and EVH at the Whisky, Randy Rhoads at the Starwood, Zep before Bonham died, etc.

Joe did his “Muddy Wolf” shows of covers, and the 3 Kings also. I like his wide variety of “themed setlist shows” each year. I was watching his latest show in Budapest though and he had a guitarist on stage and concentrating doing more of the vocals, I hope he doesn’t retire soon. He never used to do that.

Actually was this show, I don’t recall him having a second guitarist.. ever. Other instruments of course.

Diamonds and Rust versus Joan Baez. Acoustic Guitars sounded great.

Original-

Hendrix still has lived on...
