I learn a lot every day just by domaining. Everyday I Google a new term and learn something new. Some of my favorite things I've learned about are chinese numerology, different sword types, dance styles, real estate, the latest cryptos even though I own none and theres tons of other stuff I have forgotten about. What are your favorite things you've learned about?

I'll go first. I picked up the domain Quebradita.com just seeing it had high searches and Estibot value but really did no other research. I googled it today and learned its a badass Dance Style where the girl pretty much goes flying everywhere like a cheerleader.

I learned that domains are among the most illiquid investments there are, unless you invest in naturally trafficked domains.

I learned about the Merchant Marine Academy & its history, and about Ben Franklin's Patience DoGood letters. I cannot remember what led to this research....

I mean Silence DoGood letters. I keep doing that, replacing one word with another. Earlier today I meant to complain about the groundhogs in the yard, and it came out warthogs.

I learned that outlier sales throw many investors off and make many think - "oh, this is the new price for these? its low!".

lol. true though.

I think domains have given me a real awareness of grammar and spelling wide term usage even in just the English language. In addition just how wide Valuation differs on simple perception of words.
finally, just how clever the best domainers are, Not necessarily in new terminology but in playing to clever WordArt in its most enduring and long standing recognition form..

after almost 20 years, I do realise how addictive it can become, particularly if you can't separate domain values from the simple addiction of collecting and building word/term lists.

I learned there's many different ways you can make money in this business. You have to just figure out what works with you.

I've learned:

1.) German is one helluva tricky language.
2.) Google Translate sucks @ss
3.) We all know not to drink and drive but I've learned not to drink and domain either :xf.grin:
4.) If you come across a short, popular, one word .com domain that's about to drop and no one has bid on it then something is wrong, it's a spelling error or something else is not right. It's NOT one that snuck through the radar and you just miraculously happen to stumble on it - this often works in tandem with lesson number:3 :xf.grin::xf.grin:

I've also learned to not obsess about my asking price. If they buyer is offering 90% of my price, it is better to sell.

i learnt a lot, to mention a few.
--country codes e.g io,co, me, ke, ly, etc
--Australian prefer com.au to .com
....UK prefer .co.UK to .com
--I also learnt time zones of different countries (due to outbound/inbound negotiation ) you gotta get there when they are awake.
--some Spanish and German terms coupled with Chinese favorite numbers ( I know the reason why Chinese are obsessed with 888 and others )
-- I got to know about upcoming techs.
