On page 47 of the latest annual report for Indigo Books & Music (of Canada):

https://static.indigoimages.ca/2018/corporate/Indigo_Annual-Report-18.pdf

there's a CAD $3,387,000 addition to the domain name balance. Nearly all of that must be for the Indigo.com domain name, that they acquired in early January 2018, as reported by DomainInvesting.com:

https://domaininvesting.com/indigo-com-changes-hands/

Both the buyer and seller of Indigo.com were from Canada, so the "natural" transaction price was probably denominated in Canadian dollars. As of January 11, 2018 (the first time the WHOIS history shows Indigo Books & Music as the owner on January 14, 2018, but the "updated date" was January 11, 2018),

https://research.domaintools.com/re...q=indigo.com&date=2018-01-14&origin=permalink

the exchange rate was 1 USD = CAD $1.2535, making it USD $2,702,034.30.

HOWEVER, there wasn't just a single domain name they added in the past year! (ugh!) We know that they also bought IndigoLife.com for USD $7,100, see:

https://domainnamewire.com/2017/06/28/22-end-user-domain-name-sales-past-week/

I have an email in to their investor relations, to see if they can tell me the exact price of just Indigo.com (no response yet), but if IndigoLife.com is the only other domain (likely), then it's still
roughly a USD $2.7 million deal. Not sure if DNJournal can chart it with the info we have, but obviously it's a big transaction, bigger than even the GoTo.com deal.

By the way, there's another company in India that is much larger that uses that brand for an airline called IndiGo:

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/INDIGO.NS?p=INDIGO.NS

They blew it by not buying it before the Canadian company did.

Yup, Indigo Airlines have GoIndigo.in. I am sure GoIndigo will come knocking on Indigo.com door one day.

Great detective work thanks for posting this. I love how Indigo actually has a line item for domain names in their annual report. Since you posted this I have looked at half a dozen annual reports from companies that I do business with (banks, grocery chains etc) and so far Indigo is the only company to have that line item.

I especially love this line taken from the report, my highlights:

"The useful life of the domain names have been deemed to be indefinite because there are no legal, regulatory, contractual, competitive, economic, or other factors that limit the useful lives of these assets to the Company."

It's beautiful to see a large company that truly understands the value of domain names. I hope it's contagious.
